  • I am also with A & L but they have said that the charges are lawful, I don't know whether I should continue.
  • Hi Everyone - this is my 1st posting so hope I have done it right
Please HELP - I am in need of a boost
I started my cliam against the Allince and Leicester early March - I am now at the stage that I returned an offer of a cheque from them one day after they acknowledge my claim - the offer was for £1500 my claim was for £5000
so I returned the cheque with covering letter rejecting it - as they have acknowledge my claim they now have 14 days extra so this is due to be up on 11 June. The reason i am posting this is my heart is starting to sink as there never seems to be many success story's for A&L.
    Thanks in advance.

Not many success stories for large amounts here recently, but there are some on other forumsicon7.gif

Many of us are now at the same stage, just getting court dates. I've not heard of them actually turning up at court at all, or even letting people actually get to the court stage, though they'll try every trick in the book to make you give up.

Watch this space and DON'T give up now!

  • Hi everyone

I have filed my claim via Moneyclaim and have received an acknowledgment from Wragge and Co. Today I received a paltry offer through the post from A & L of £484 when I have asked for £1883. This wasn't in the form of a cheque, but was a letter saying sign here if you want to accept it, but basically if you do then you will still be accepting out t and c's.

So I am going to reply telling them I do not accept it, but am willing to make a compromise with them for £1500 - has anyone had any dealings of negotiating with them for a settlement figure? If so what would be the best way to do it via phone or letter?

If they don't agree then it is all the way to the courts along with the rest of you. My daughter rang Barclays and asked for £1500 back they then wrote to her offering £1150 within a week - job done! Why can't all banks see the error their ways.

I'd get everything in writing ... that way you have a record of everything and can refer to it if you need to.

You can either request permission from the court to make an amendment to your claim using form N244 or you can ring up your court and ask them if they will accept an amended N1.

Alternatively you can leave it in and claim that the bank is not protected by the Limitations Act as they have concealed the details of their costs.

Incidentally, 24.2 and 3.4 means nothing as you haven't told us the act or statute it is referring to.

    Meanwhile please read...

Hamsters have no tact and diplomacy, nor do they want any.
