  • Certain people out there are totally STUPID. They are bidding on the comet auction site and placing bids for substandard products at a greater value than you can buy for new.
It even shows you on the site what the product retails for in the shop.
I saw a scratchched washing machine go for £80 more than you could buy new.
    Come on people, WAKE UP.

I tend to find the better bargains are for items that are more expensive in the first place. I've had two fridge freezers from the site, both in a+ condition & saving over £100 of the store price each. Mostly though the stuff doesnt seem to be very much of a bargain, rather go and buy brand new from the store!
I agree, I got a £350 TV 3 years ago for £150, but when I tried to get a tumble dryer, they always ended up as dear as a brand new one - so I bought a brand new one ;)
The people who pay more than it's worth are probably the same people who bid over the odds at ebay and then complain, that the seller sold the item so expensive :wall:

As long as you use your commom sense and stick to your budget:exclamati you can get some real good bargains.

  • It has been mentioned before on previous threads that the ridiculous bidding could allegedly be down to Comet staff.
I'm not accusing anyone of doing anything underhand though............

    ...eh !?

What possible logic is there to this ?
  • There is currently a cooker on the site going for £505 but the store price is £499 eh?!

I just bought a LG Fridge Freezer off them,
    http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/product.do?sku=323942store price is £399 I bought it for £275.

It was sold as unboxed brand new, with a dent on the back and left
side, but when it was unpacked it had a dent and scratch on the front
door about the size of a 5p, I called them up and they offered my money
back or I could keep it and have £20 back, guess the delivery crew are not
very careful with the items sometimes as comet were adamant it had no front damage when it was shipped

Anyway I covered the dent with a fridge magnet and took £20 refund, and I am very happy with the product it's excellent value for £255 I ended up paying, with a 12month guarantee still.

I bought a bosh dishwashwer and washing machine over the last year, very happy with both, and paid £121 for the washing machine and about £140 for the dishwasher, dw has dent on side, hidden by cupboards, wm was just missing transit bolts.
Always on the hunt for a bargain
