    It is actually 60 days!

no it is every 90 days

1.7 You must make at least one outbound call in any 90 day period.

the fresh network that the sim cards are availible on is called fresh 2, fresh did used to have to be used every 60 days but was relaunched last october with the MMS & GPRS features, its the original fresh that had to be used every 60 days

One other quirk about Fresh when I last used it, is that I also can let you get slightly overdrawn, and they block you account. As they didnt have realtime billing. Even when you topped up, it took up to 24hours and phone calls from another phone to get them to fix it. I personally would leave well alone!

But if you go in with your eyes open... ;)

Another thing with Tesco mobile, the value sim is cheaper but the same material as a normal or extra sim. you can call up on 282 or something to change to either tariff, free of charge, if you so wish ;)

    Its £3.47 on their website.

Basically, get the Value Sim, put it in your phone, call them on 282 with your PAC and quote Port1, they will move your number across 5 days later ...

Other options include T-mobile or Virgin, for reasonable call prices.

Virgin are doing their SIM packs with for £5, with £5 credit

fresh charge 15p per min with 5p per text, fresh uses the t-mobile network, so check for coverage in your area

Same network as easymobile use/used so should be no issues if already a customer with easymobile.

    hello all,

I am another Easymobile customer... very annoyed because their deal was so good... but they never marketed, the eejits... I'd have splashed it everywhere: "20 P TO RECEIVE CALLS IN EUROPE" etc etc

Anyway the point is it seems Tesco mobile is the best PAYG deal for ex-Easymobile people... but Martin, why don't you have a thing on this on this site???? I..e for people who would never think of going on a stupid old monthly sub for a mobile but who do travel to Europe or wherever.

    cheers

  • Is there one that isn't based off T-Mobile?

    Details on Virgin:
    Based on T-Mobile
First 5 minutes of calls each day1: 15p per minute
Each minute after that1: 5p per minute
National toll rate numbers (0870/ 0871/ 0844)5,7 15p per minute
Local toll rate numbers (0845)7 10p per minute
"Calls to other UK networks 35p per minute"
Please be aware that the following National toll rate numbers are charged at different rates: 0870180 & 0870182 at 10p per minute. 0871320, 0871321, 0871322, 0871325, 0871326, 0871625 at 50p per call.
    Mon to Fri 0800-1800 19.33p per minute8
Midnight Fri to Midnight Sun 3.65p per minute8
    Other times 15.16p per minute
Order of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. What should have happened?: banks go bust and we lost our money much quicker

I saw someone said fresh don't do roaming - that's not true...

You can make international calls and send international texts with fresh. Also you can set up roaming - if you have a relationship (have paid balance in full by direct debit for a couple of months) they will set up roaming with a reasonably limit (£100 or so)... Otherwise they may ask for a deposit...
  • Any thoughts on the best network to achieve:-

    - one rate to all UK numbers (fixed / any network)
    - previous call details and costs on-line (like EasyMobile)
    - roaming

As far as I can see, there isn't one which gives all three.

Also, I asked EasyM if I could both take up the Fresh offer, and port my number out to another supplier.

Idea was to use existing number for incoming (with Tesco for example), but perhaps use Fresh for outgoing (with low call rates to other networks).

Unfortunately the answer was "no" - still, no harm in trying...
  • It sounds to me like "easyMobile Mark Two", are making a really big mistake here. When/if they finally get their act together and re-assemble the Easy brand sim card with a little help from Stelios, all their customers will have evapourated to the four winds.

Fresh gives all of those - 15p a minute to any UK number, itemised billing online (99p a month), roaming - easy to setup after a month or two's direct debit, or give a deposit if you don't want to wait.

OK... but *how much* are the Fresh roaming rates (for PAYG)... I find their website totally unyielding on this... so it's probably rubbish.

They've got an 0870 number which no self-respecting MSE member would ever use of course, and an 0800 number (0800 0490800) which I haven't been able to connect through yet... suspect they will say "can't tell you, phone 0870... "

PS someone else said Stelios might come back with another deal or company or something... personally I'd have no hesitation in going back if the charges and T&Cs were pretty much Easymobile's ... but has he said something about this???
