i recieved a parking ticket (penalty charge notice) at the beginning of jan and after reading all these posts and not paying it i recieved a letter from roxburghe saying i owe them a certain amount of money as the letter was not in my name i rang them to change it into my name (stupidly) they have now sent photographic evidence of my car to my email and continue to keep ringing me saying i need to pay this money.
please help.. what should i do? im worried i will get taken to court or something serious will happen. :(

Nothing will happen as it will never get to court. By the way, it's not a penalty charge notice, it's an unenforceable parking charge notice. Please read all the other threads on here that deal with private parking tickets.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Next time they ring tell that the debt is expressly denied and they are to hand it back to their clients, if they continue to contact you they are acting illegally, you can also put the same into an email , also tell them in that email that you withdraw your consent for them to call you, and any further contact will be reported as harassment give them FA has some good wording you can use.

After that don't communicate further with them.

They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

You rang up, so they know someone is reading the letters and might crack up.

Do as taffy said above the next time they ring, and hopefully the OFT will revoke their credit license soon. Although that won't mean a thing as the scammers will move onto another debt collector.
  • Sorry i said penalty charge notice! Its actually a parking charge notice, the only reason i rang was to make sure it is in my name and not another family members incase this does go further (just thinking of my family) can they take me to court? Im worried because im a new driver only been driving just under a year + only young so dont know what most of it means
  • Roxburghe talk a good fight, but the one and only time they have ever been to court was when they were sued for harassment. Because you rang them, instead of simply ignoring them, they have you marked down as a soft touch who could crack and pay, so they are putting pressure on you.

This will go absolutely NOWHERE as it has nowhere to go, you don't say what the fake ticket was issued for, but whatever it was, it is completely unenforceable. Ignoring it CANNOT have any effect on your licence, your credit rating, or your bank balance. If Roxburghe are involved, the next stage will be the fraudulent fake "solicitor" Graham White (look closely at the address, it is simply Roxburghe trying to fool you), after a couple of letters from him, if you have stayed strong they WILL go away- most people don't take any notice as it IS a scam.

If they phone you again, DO NOT Speak to them, just hang up, they will soon get the message.

Yes they are worrying. That's because they know they CANNOT take you to court so bullying is the only way they can get anyone to pay their fraudulent charges. Makes sense does it not. But join the swelling ranks of those who have earned the right to wear the T-shirt saying "I told Roxburghe to pee off".
  • The penalty was for parking on my college car park which students can only park on if they have applied for a permit which i hadnt, it is issued by A S Securi-t

ITS NOT A PENALTY & ITS NOT A FINE

Now please ignore them, it will not go further than junk mail.

  • and the junk mail will soon stop if they realise that, despite previous impressions, you are not a mug.

The sooner the Government does something about these crooks the better, but until then, please listen, all of us on here have learned from our own experience that these people DO NOTHING if you refuse to let them bully you.

My 18 year old niece is ignoring a parking charge notice from her college as well. She's been ignoring the letters for 6 months and she is on the last one now. I told her she can ignore it and she trusts her Auntie's advice!

Alll you have to do is watch the Watchdog clip and look at the preview pics of the scary letters. Both shown in the top sticky thread 'PPC letters & threats' which is just 2 clicks away from this forum thread you are on. See my signature for where to click to get back to the main form view.

Do not be scared by this and most important, WHEN you tell older relatives about it do NOT be convinced by those traditionalists/worriers who will say 'it's a fine so pay it'. NO. Educate any doubters with the Watchdog clip.

Despite your college allowing this company in, it IS a scam so do not pay and do not contact them further.

There is no fine and no debt, no money is owed to anyone, let alone the college, so cannot affect your place there or your credit rating.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

    I've got one with a paragraph that reads;

We are fully aware of anecdotal information being presented via the internet and on various websites and you may well feel this guidance is worth following. We strongly urge you to seek independent legal advice rather than rely on these opinions, and we would respectively suggest that you refer to the Civil Procedure Rules part 31*, and more specifically parts 31.16 and 31.17.

*For additional information on how this may affect you please visit 'a link I can't post because I'm a new member...'

    Phew, that told me!
