I just noticed that Sainsbury's have glayva for £11.99, which I think is £3 off the normal price

If you're thinking about a quick booze cruise to Calais, then consider the offer by Majestic (called wine and beer world in France) If you pre-order £300 worth of booze - not a lot if there are four of you) then they will either pay for a fast ferry ticket for the car and passengers, or if you prefer as my friend and I do to go by Eurotunnel, then they give £30.00 towards the cost.
We've done this a few times, and it saves a lot of time - more for shopping for other goodies.

    A few other pointers:

The 300+ GBP of drink has to be ordered in advance and it will be waiting to be collected at the time you choose. You opt for the 30 GBP kick back OR they give you a code to quote to Sea France that buys a cheap day return for car and passengers, you pay and the cost of the ticket is taken off at the till (Back in July the ferry was 36 GBP) - At this time of year you should be able to get it below 20 GBP if you shop arround on your own account and can be flexible over carrier and date etc. One word of warning the till receipt is confusing as it is covered in "list" prices with discounts taken off. I was in a hurry and found when checking on the boat that I had ordered at one price BUT by the time I collected a particular case of wine the price had gone up.
Surprise surprise the till had charged me the new discounted price. You can pay by cheque in GBP (no "dynamic currency conversion" rip offs), but have to wait for a credit check call back to the UK.

You will probably be given a discount voucher for a future visit (spend another 100 in the next quarter and save 10%, that sort of idea - knowing I would be back in late August I kept it together with another one someone had left in their trolley - perhaps we should start a swap shop here on MSE for such vouchers.

There are two outlets in Calais ! The smaller on in head to head competition
    with "Oddbins".

Finally-they may have some "repacked" beer: somehow the original packaging has been torn or soaked = even better value.

    Good hunting

  • I've just done a french booze cruise, and found that http://www.tesco-france.com, is excellent.
We mainly went there for a day trip, and went into Brugge too, after looking at Le Mamoth, etc, and a big hypermarket, we stopped at the 'centre commercial' to the right of the euro tunnel. They have a big hypermarket, that is quite good, but for alcohol we found http://www.tesco-france.com was cheaper, you can just walk in and buy, or you can order on-line and collect. I'd assume in a few weeks you'll be able to have it delivered, but not sure on the outcome of the EU ruling.

    Anyway some quick deals.

24 Cans Carling, £11.00, plus if you buy 2 cases, you'll get 1 case of 24 bottles carling free.

Gallo Family White Grenaice £2.50 per bottle
Penfolds Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet £3.40 per bottle

I am actually intrigued with this upcoming ruling that is set to allow online ordering of alcohol and cigarettes after November 23rd, 2006 if the EU court passes it into law.

I can only imagine the deals and the savings........willing to wait and see.
teddyco, Im interested to find out, how do we know where we can get them from? eventually, think it's a good idea, especially as you can buy anything from anywhere on line, why not the booze and cigs. :T
  • Check out the website https://www.quaffersoffers.co.uk for all the latest discount deals at your local stores.

Asda are doing 3 packs of lager/beer/cider for £24 in store

6 packs for £48 on the website

    £3.99 delivery charge

but if you use one of the £10 on-line vouchers then it's £41.99 including delivery

    http://www.asda.com/asda_shop/sys/web_deep_link.jsp?link_type=promotions&promo_type=multibuy

for some reason it doesn't come up with the full discount when you put it in your basket, I contacted customer services who told me to phone them if it wasn't right when it was delivered. All the discounts came off on delivery though. :>))

Similar thing here customer services need the weekend while the computer updates but the delivery note states BULK BEER OFFER 2 FOR £18 3 FOR £24 but I've been charged 3 x £12.98 total £38.94 less £5.94 multibuy, matey boy assures me though that my £10 off a £35 spend e voucher will come off. Product was 24 x 440ml 4.1% Carling so at 72 cans for £24 its a good deal. We will see what happens Monday - hopefully a voucher for the inconvenience caused
  • Got a litre bottle of Bombay saphire for 14.99 in Tesco this week- great bargain

  • I was in Booths supermarket today, and they had an offer on Wolf Blass yellow label. I can't remember the details. If it had been Eaglehawk I might have paid more attention. They were offering 2 bottles for £30 on certain malt whiskies including Pulteney and Bowmore.
