I didn't think you could open a bank account without giving an address?

No you can't, I changed my address to my friends when I realised what a mess I got myself into, then she moved and I changed it to her new address, then she just returned to sender, but I kept sending payments anyway as I DO want to clear the debt, so hence they don't know where I live.

In that case if you're sure you can't tell him, get down to the citizens advice. They are non judgmental and will help you. Please don't feel so down. I know it's hard but the fact you posted shows you are serious and you want to sort it out.
As for the kids, teenage girls are always horrid! Comes with the territory i'm afraid. Try not to let her get to you! It's only clothes after all and i'm sure she's not walking around in rags, is she?

  • Well done for posting your soa and welcome to the dfw forum. You have come tot he best place for advise.

Firstly only you know how your OH will be if you tell him, he may take it better than you think or not. That is up to you but you know what they say = a problem shared is a problem halved.
    Monthly Incomings:

    My salary - £350
    Partners salary - £1,200
    Benefits - £156

    Total - £1,706

    Monthly Outgoings:

    Mortgage/Rent - £850
    Council Tax - £89
Gas - £50 - these seem high - you could try uswitch ( via quidco to see if you can get a better deal.
    Electric - £75

    TV License - £10.99
    Phone - £15.00
    food £350 see below
    Car Insurance - £29.00
Petrol - £120 £40 pwk on petrol? this is a huge amount, you need to look at how you can change this.
    Life Insurance £40

    Total: £1,628.99

Just a few questions to get a clearer picture
How many are you feeding on £350 ?
How come you use so much petrol?
Do you control the budget or does your Oh
Where does xmas, birthdays, car tax, maintenance etc come in above?

more advice to follow - well done for being so organised at this early stage!!!!:T I took me ages to post my soa as I still wanted to bury my head in the sand.

    A few ideas:
Shop in cheap places like ALDi and LIDL for food, get food at markets, grow own veg. keep a spending diary and save any coppers in a jar. It all adds up!

No she is not walking around in rags, she has a strange fashion sense or maybe thats because she has too now..
It's difficult to get to citizens advice, as is posting on here, as hubby is a field engineer and is around most of the time, out today though, so going to try and get in today if not i know that he is away on a course in a couple of weeks and away for a week so I will be able to do it then, will they be able to keep my address from the creditors, this is one thing i don't need a letter coming to the house an hubby finding out, would be happy to go in there once a month and pay them, the annoying thing is I know that if I could get the loan/card and overdraft all put as one debt i would be able to pay a bulk amount each month, not much but at least it wouldnt mean writing three letters, three postal orders which cost and three stamps, thats gotta save some, thanks all for support and advice, even the knife thing, I know I have been stupid, I will get there I HOPE!

    Thanks xxxx

    Hi & welcome

OK, the first thing to do is to start getting your correspondence to you house. Its simply not a good idea to have your correspondence going different places and what have you. It makes it impossible to get real insight into whats where, and may look bad at the bank.

Secondly, MY OH has a cahoot loan and the interest is crippling. I suggest you try and move this balance to a0 % or low life of balance card

    Others have made good suggestions.
How many is in your family 350 a month on food seems MASSIVE.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Electric is so high as the provider cocked up when we moved and left us in a mess, fighting them at the moment, they have offered us £50 off our bill, but we are taking it further.
