  • It looks like OE13 is about a penny a unit more expensive?

Incidentally a more general question, I track my usage and also calculate it it on a weekly basis to make sure I can check bills. the OE12 tariff annyingly is a No Standing Charge one, so it has the Primary and Secondary rate nonsense... does anyone know of a calculator that can help with tracking this, or am I going to have to sharpen my Excel skills :D ?

OES12 is still being shown on the SP website, but you are correct that comparison sites (at least energyhelpline that I checked) now shows OES13.

There appears to be no difference in prices or discounts, at least for my situation.

The only difference appears to be the expiry date of the tariff (and hence until when early exit fees apply) is now end April 2012 instead of end Feb 2010 with OES12

Edit: Just rechecked and for me the electricity prices remain the same, but gas prices have increased by a fraction under 0.5p for both tier 1 and tier 2 usage. Represents about a 20% increase in tier 2 gas unit prices!
Hope those who wanted it got in at OES12 prices, as I suspect it won't be available tomorrow (and you can't call SP today ). Actually OES13 appears to have replaced OES12 last Friday

Edit2: See my post#40 below for further info on OES13

Most suppliers spread their tier 1 units equally over the year.
That is certainly true for both SP and BG.
I think there is one supplier who oddly has decided there are only 360 days in a year. i.e. they quote a quarterly tier 1 threshold, but state a quarter is 90 days. That may be SP? The effect is minimal.

The only supplier I know who does have seasonally adjusted figures is nPower for gas who have their much talked about sculpting process.

Actual unit gas prices appear to vary by area (as they did on OES12)

Above post appears to relate to East Midlands supply region. :)

    Yes that`s correct.

As for the discounts, AFAIA, if you`re duel fuel you get £15-76 plus £16-80 making a total of £32-55 which is divided by 4 and paid quarterly.

Is this how you read it Premier?

I can only go by OES12 as I havn't seen the full term & conditions to OES13 yet (they are not yet on the SP website), but as they are the same discounts, I presume they will be applied the same.

For dual fuel, there is an annual discount of £16.80 for those that pay monthly by DD (as you are required under OES12 & 13)
For online, there is an annual discount of £15.75 (made up of £5.25 for gas and £10.50 for electricity)

The annual discounts I believe are calculated pro-rata per day and applied as billed. This is certainly the case for the online discount and I presume similar for dual fuel discount.
The daily pro-rata rates for the discount are based on 365 days per year (so perhaps it wasn't SP that think there are only 360 days in a year)
