Groupon - Anyone else had poor customer service?

Options
I bought my first and last Groupon voucher this week. It was for a Hotel stay at Chevin hotel in Yorkshire. Both Groupon and the Hotel proudly trumpet that they sold over 1600 vouchers for this offer.

Good for them!

Not good for the customers like my who cannot get through to the Hotel to book.

When I complained to Groupon themselves they didn't apologise they just revoked my voucher. So no apology, no intent to resolve the problem, no treat for myself and wife as planned. I am so glad i didn't get one for friends or family as I would also be feeling bad about that as well.

Is the beginning of a company too big to care for it's customers or have I just been unlucky?

I have sent several emails to the Groupon representative (as well as to the general Groupon email address, and have had no response.

In the past I have also tried calling groupon but had to wait for a long time, and it seemed the number is not free (perhaps this has changed?) Therefore, I tried raising customer service issues through their website, which has a tab for "Groupon UK - MyCityDeal Customer Service"

I raised queries on January 10, and have sent several email reminders, with no response.

Yep they are rubbish. Once they have your money that's the end of customer service as we know it.
Very unhelpful and fob you off, in my experience anyway.

  • i used their lovefilm offer, didn't receive the voucher, emailed them and it bounced back. I got my moneyback but only as I paid via paypal
Best wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card
Rehome an unwanted prize or gift with a seriously ill child through Postpals.co.uk
  • I successfully entered their eMusic deal - £18 for 6moths membership - and got the code activated within a week or so. Actually did it twice - 2 different offers with 2 difference email account - and both went through fine.

I would have though the LoveFilm would have been a dead-set as it's only a code for an online company.

I can imagine booking hotels & holidays would be a nightmare if the deal was popular, but not to have emails in responce is terrible.

Makes me think twice about using them in the future... unless it's another eMusic deal through a 3rd email account ;)

I have to say I've had literally dozens of groupon deals, mainly hair / spa / massage but also hotel delas and cleaning and I've never had any problems at all. Saved me a fortune!:j
    There will always be:
A “LIE” in BELIEVE, an “OVER” in LOVER, an “END” in FRIEND, an “US” in TRUST , and an “IF” in LIFE ;)

  • I've had one issue in the past and after two e-mails was eventually refunded. I've never tried ringing because I do not want to spend a fortune waiting on hold. I was refunded no problem, but like I say it took about a month. I think groupon has really blown up recently so theyre probably inundated and perhaps need more staff but I won't complain as I was refunded and have been happy with all my other deals. Hope you get it sorted soon.

I purchased a Groupon voucher in July, I've since been the unable to redeem my voucher as the company have changed their telephone no. & are not responding calls (9) or voicemails (2) at their new no.

I decided to email Groupon & request a refund. After a pleasant automated response, a week passed & nothing. Further unanswered emails & lengthy costly unanswered phone calls followed.

    Eureka! :T

Today I found a freephone number for their customer services:
0800 0075719 & after listening to piped music for 30mins a lovely apologetic & sympathetic lady answered. She refunded my money & cancelled my account with Groupon. She will pass on my views that this should be a freephone no. & she told me that they are absolutely snowed under, my advice... employ more staff please!

Could you please let us know which company? I purchased vouchers for face masks from O Spa, who apparently are in liquidation.

The company was "The Greener Cleaners", & according to Groupon you now have to redeem vouchers via the internet. I lost the will by this time & opted for a refund & asked to be removed from Groupon mailing list.

Just received an email from Groupon as to how I rated their customer service...
Very good, if you actually get to speak to someone!

    Good luck
