I'm also interested in getting a pre pay card, and I have one simple question. Is there any way to put cash on the card without incuring a charge?

CaxtonFX and FairFX have free top up online with a debit card, but I assume the debit card provider still charges?

HSBC do not charge to top up a Caxton Card.

Caxton does the conversion and charges your debit card in Sterling, so shouldn't be an additional charge from any card provider (I've used HSBC and Nationwide).

HSBC and Nationwide - and a few others - don't charge, but many do.

And the question was about a sterling card, so no conversion

I thought the question was about a euro prepaid card!

I'm thinking of getting one of these euro prepaid cards and just wondering what the best card for me will be, it will just be for use in eurozones for ATM withdrawls and possibily card payments

OK, we'll I'm leaving next Saturday and just ordered one today. So if it comes in time then great, if not then it will teach me for procrastinating so much and it will be handy for next time.

I must say I'm very impressed. I ordered a Caxton Euro card on Sunday and it arrived in the post this morning.
  • Have used FairFX cards for several years now and have had no problems whatsoever I would recommend them to everybody. No charge for topping up the cards :A:beer:

FairFX have now introduced a minimum top-up amount, not so great if you need to transfer over a small amount for a weekend away, or a little bit to get you by on the last day. Will be moving our funds to Caxton.
