ADHD DLA Claim

Many young children have poor road sense not just those with ADHD. If DLA was paid because children and adults with or without ADHD might get run over then we would have a National Bill on our hands of Trillions.
The Dept. of Trans. used to say that kids couldnt judge the speed and distance on an oncoming car until they were 12 but people (not me!) allow their kids to do just that well before that age.
The crossing roads thing is prevelant on all support forums for ADHD, Im pleased that I had never seen them before I first supported a parent to gain DLA for their child but back then their wasnt the online fakers guides, nor did I need them because I always wrote the truth down and thats diffrent in every case.0 -
I didnt know that families got ADHD, you learn something new every day!
Plenty of people diagnosed with ADHD as children improve and become as normal as the rest of society, especially the one's that get the right help to learn coping stratergies.
there has also been a lot of research into twins with adhd, especially identical ones, (which mine are, and took part in the study)loves to knit and crochet for others0 -

The £18.65 per week LRM is paid to help the person to get about. Assumably you pay this money to the staff or adults present when they are out and about.0 -

We are talking of a child with ADHD (and you also mentioned HRC) and not an adult that had ADHD as a child, I had ashma as a child but Im not ashmatic now so it dosnt need declaring to anyone, we all change as we get older and it is possible to grow out of ADHD like many conditions.
Do you think it magically disappears on their 16th birthday??
Its highly offensive for you to tell the other poster that what they say is rubbish!!!
People do not grow out of ADHD, they may develop enough coping skills etc into adulthood which would perhaps render them safe to drive. But many young people with ADHD would be totally unsafe to drive. and YOU DO have to declare a diagnosis of ADHD to the DVLA.
There have been numerous studies done on ADHD and driving.
You should consider your responses before telling someone they are talking rubbish, when they clearly are not!!
ADHD is far more than naughty children, if you had lived with it you would know that.0 -

Thankyou Novelli!
No problem.
There is so much mis information around regarding ADHD. Given the large amount of research done in the area you would have thought people would be better educated.
If anyone thinks that ADHD is simply a behaviour disorder that can be corrected using medication or parenting techniques then they are sadly mistaken. Both of the above can help, but without appropriate education, social care support, family support, and public awareness then these children and their families will continue to suffer.
it is an extremely difficult condition to live with and can tear families apart, mostly it has to be said because of other people ignorance.0 -

You are talking rubbish, I have experiance of this and Im posting my experiance and if people were less accepting of the rubbish dragged out by ADHD "support" networks and they looked at all the evidence available that dosnt just help to claim benefits they might have a chance of looking at it with an open mind.
People jump at getting drugs prescribed because it helps to get DLA but they dont work, they may seen to for a short time but thats it and we tried three diffrent ones including dexies, counsilling, relaxation therapies, coping stratergies etc. work much better in the long run and are much more help to lead an almost normal adult life though they still need to have top ups to keep them on an even keel.0 -

You are terribly offensive in your posts.
A child having medication prescribed doies NOT help to receive benfits, in fact in some cases it will mean benefit is stopped, as if the medication is working then DLA will not be applicable anymore..
What do you mean by ADHD support networks??
Once again you are assuming that its medication or other therapies, when in fact neither on their own would be appropriate, you need a wrap around program addressing all the issues, not just medication.
and what on earth do you mean by the odd top up?? are u suggesting that they may need the odd pill here and there?? If you are then that is ludicrus.
You sound very angry and mis-informed and you are very offensive.0
