Whilst i understand your cautiousness in regards to ID being stolen you cant blame Sainsburys as they just rent the space to LLoyds
Sorry, I should clarify that as well... it is not a Lloyds machine - it's a generic cashpoint built into the Sainsbury's building with Sainsbury's branding all around it.0 -

F u c king hell. .I love it when the OP has given us all the correct information in the OP.
So its a Sainsburys finance branded machine? Still nothing to do with the shop - they have no access to it.
but a notice would be good of them."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -

The bank would know what time you put your card into the machine so you wouldn't be liable for any transactions after that time.
Also many websites will ask for the billing address if different from the delivery address.
'many'
Do you know what a massive pain it is to have to cancel your card and set up new visa debits? Do you know what a massive inconvenience it is to go through ID fraud and try to get your money back? It has happened to me - nearly £2,000 in one day which took 6 weeks to recover.
The person stole my ID with a copy of my card and charged a number £400-£500 transactions to some kind of card which can be loaded with money to be used abroad. It didn't matter that they lived in the South East.
I had to take a day off work as there was so much time involved at the bank to resolve that. They wouldn't even speak to me on the phone as the person had already changed my person details!
Why should I have to go through that when other people have had the same problem at the same store recently.
What am asking is for some common sense out there - I don't care if your boss says you can't help... put a piece of paper on the wall for godsake. Think about the distress other people have to go through - don't be a selfish jobsworth.0 -

Who said there was a power problem in the first place?
If there had been no power the machine would have neither pulled the card in nor ejected it later. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

All he said was that he'd reported it to Lloyds not that it was a Lloyds machine. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

Now that it's become clear that the machine was 'branded' as Sainsbury's I think your case is a lot stronger. I know some supermarkets do this but a lot have several machines from different banks set into their buildings. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
