Sainsbury's cashpoint, Pinhoe Exeter WARNING

We recently shopped at Sainsbury's in Pinhoe Exeter where there are 3 cashpoints on the side of the building near the entrance.
I've had to report suspicious behaviour of the middle cashpoint to Lloyds as Sainsbury's are not interesting as they are not liable for any problems with the cashpoint.
If you insert your card, the machine does not acknowledge that it has been put it. After about 10 minutes the card pops out.
But if you do not know that, you might be tempted to go in store to report it – which takes about 10mins as the staff contact other staff to respond to your complaint - they will eventually tell you to leave it in the machine and contact your bank. They will not put a poster on the machine to say that it is out of order.
Fortunately when I was inside, my wife stood by the machine with our shopping which is when a stranger came up to her and said that you can just wait around to get hold of the card.
So if you leave the card and go into the store, or leave your card and return home with your shopping to call your bank - someone else will end up with your bank account number, sort code, full name, and security PIN code.
Sainsbury's are still refusing to do anything about it. Seems that no one is liable and so no one cares. You will either end up having your details stolen and used, or have to go through the process of cancelling your card, and resetting all your visa debits when your new card arrives.
I've never seen a machine do this - seems some people know about this, but not the staff at Sainsbury's. I've seen plenty of programs on telly about devices that can be installed in these machines... so although I am being paranoid - it's bank details at stake.
It was night time when we shopped there. Really easy for someone just to sit in the car park in front of the machine and pick up cards for hours. Esp as Sainsbury's are simply not interested as they are not liable.
Please be careful if you shop at Sainsbury's in Pinhoe Exeter. Do not use the cashpoints.

How do they get the PIN code?
Why have you not reported the faulty machine to Lloyds? There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
Sainsburys cannot do anything about it as the machine does not belong to them so they have no access to the machine.. what would you like them to do? Break into it and get a nice big fine from Lloyds?
And why have you not reported it to Lloyds?"If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -
Doesn't say he's not reported it to Lloyds:steveninthesun wrote: »I've had to report suspicious behaviour of the middle cashpoint to LloydsSquirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
It's not Sainsbury's fault it's the banks. When I worked there we were told not to do anything about faulty cash machines other than tell people to contact their bank. The banks wouldn't even let us place out of order signs up, so your blaming the wrong people.0

No but given the length of the post and the amount of detail he went into about reporting it to the wrong people you'd imagine that if he'd reported it to LLoyds he would have mentioned it.There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

How?......................Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Am I the only person who can see the second paragraph where it says "I've had to report it to Lloyds"?
But I must agree, Sainsbury's have no access to the cashpoint and so there's no point in reporting it to them.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
