I had this also I joined in the old days on the Standard Package always been happy had this email below today, I was paying £12.50 per month + the VAt increase and now this. When I joined back then they said they would not ever put my subs up!!! sods.

Well I wont complain I will leave, I know a lot of people who have happily gone over to plus net and they are getting a good service. All the online reviews say otherwise but I may take a punt.

The problem, I think, with PlusNet is that not all the exchanges have their kit and so you pay your £6.49 per month but some people will get LLU, plusnet kit and fast speeds, others will get the BT resale product and see their speed crawl at peak times.

I think this is why some reviews are great and others are terrible.

I've been with o2 since Jul 2008. Originally paying £12.50.
    VAT at 15% meant I paid £12.23.
VAT now at 20% means I am paying £12.77.
I got a letter today saying I will be paying £14.50! This is MORE than being a new business customer, who would be paying £13.50.
I've just renewed my contract in December 2010 for another 12 months! Can I still leave?

    Yes, you can.

You seem determined to waste your time.

OTELO is the place for your complaint, not ofcom!

The o2 complaints procedure is pretty easy to find if you have google where you live!

You didn't read my last post properly. I was advised by O2 to complain to Ofcom! When I told them they were wrong on a subsequent phone call they repeated it. So foxtrot oscar with your sarcasm.

Hi - I got the email this morning and I am hopping mad. I have broadband with them which is out of contract so I can leave whenever I like, but they will not let me cancel the home phone which is also increasing. So, although I signed up for the home phone at a certain price, they are now increasing that price and telling me I cannot cancel the contract before June. If I do they will hit me with the penalty that allows them to charge me the full amount until June. I am absolutely furious with them - it is not fair that they can break the terms of my contract and force me to stay with them - but apparently there is a weasely clause in the T&C that let's them increase it as long as 'the increase does not exceed the Retail Price Index (“RPI”) figure in any twelve month period'. However surely they are breaking contract law? I told them they were a disgrace and I was really disappointed that they were treating long-standing and loyal customers like me in such a shabby manner - I left BT because they were so awful. I have recommended o2 to everyone. Address to email to in next post: everyone please write - let's have a mass protest.

They won't let you take homephone alone, so as they are the ones who are allowing you to cancel your bb then to force you to take the phone alone seems a breach of their own terms.

Point this out to them and ask them to therefore to release you from the contract as they are frustrating you from keeping to it!

There are reports on the o2 forum of them giving good deals to keep customers who had both bb and phone who want to leave. (One report is them giving 12 months free!)

You've been with them nearly 3 years, has the price gone up in that time - NO !
Has petrol, Council Tax, Kit-e-Kat, etc, etc, gone up in that time - YES.

As has been said several times already, if you don't like their prices buy it elsewhere !
