aarrgg must you be so dismissive with people who are trying to help? Anyone who tries to help with a query is most welcome as we do not have a great deal of Computer knowledge. Our expertise may lie in other fields! What was said. " Hijack this gives unreliable results in Windows 7 64bit."
If you know this why do you not mention it?
Rarely, if ever are these problems caused by a virus.
I suppose the next comment will be from one of the "do a clean install" mob.
If the OP has a roller ball mouse (did anyone ask?) Hijack This and Malwarebytes won't remove fluff or dust.
Too many idiots with over inflated sense of self importance on here giving over the top advice and causing panic.0 -
I think aarrgghh just has an axe to grind
...................and no life:idea:0 -
Or perhaps you could have thought of it and decided that a fiver for a new mouse was not such a stunning objection to trying another mouse.Thats fair enough if the OP does. Im sure the OP can think of that awesome solution for themselves mind. Or are we supposed to write down every single action now?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. It may also be a case of a problem with a USB driver, I've seen this before. But I agree, check the mouse out first by trying a spare one if you have one or can borrow one. Then if you still have a problem repost and I'm sure someone can give you some further information.0

My house keeps freezing every 4-5 minutes, with the cursor being frozen.
When I pull it out the usb socket 1, and then reinsert it into usb socket 2, it works find again.
so i Alternate every 4-5 minutes between Usb socket 1 and usb socket 2.
Does this sound like the mouse is not working properly/wear and tear?
or sounds like I have a virus/trojan on my computer?
Rather than getting hot under the collar chaps , suggest OP shuts the door

CHILDREN! PUT YOUR TOYS AWAY AND GO TO BED!
At NO POINT did the OP mention 64 bit.
I'm not dismissing anyones suggestions, but I do look at the number of postings someone has made (for free) and also their "thanks" figures (showing how many people have considered their advise to be valuable) when considering whether to follow that advise.
I wouldn't consider advise from a newbie to "put the machine back in it's box", for instance.
SO to the OP;
1 If your mouse has a ball, try cleaning the rollers
2 If you have access to another mouse, try that
3 BEFORE taking a trip "down town" to get a mouse, try downloading the FREE software. It costs nothing and the FREE advise may help clean up your PC and get it working better anyway.

Fair point. But if you live in a glass house, don't throw stones:When I posted, id had about 3 hours sleep and was starting my nightshift

Hijack this gives unreliable results in Windows 7 64bit. (Check it out) This should always be mentioned, but isn't.I dont need to mention that 64bit systems give dodgy results in hijack as no one should be acting on them anywaysIf you know this why do you not mention it? ... My point is recommending actions without proper information can and does lead to disastrous consequences.because I dont need to...
No one should be acting on HJT results without your say-so?! So anyone reading this thread in years to come might have seen that HJT could help identify malware on their system, but because you don't think people should try to fix their PC without your permission you don't think it's necessary to impart such information?
How did you come to know as much as you do about computing? I bet there was a time when you ran HJT for the first time and interpreted the results. From the sounds of it, someone in the same position as you were, who stumbled across this thread while trying to fix a problem, might try HJT and take inappropriate action simply because you couldn't be bothered to mention the "dodgy results" when running the software on a 64-bit OS.0
