I believe alienRIK's advise is sufficient: He asks quite clearly to run a hijackthis scan and then post the log.

Hijackthis is like taking a photo while also having photoshop abilities:
When you run a hijackthis log ('taking the photo'), you do get false comments ("file missing") on 64 bits systems but if the reader of the log (usually alienRIK) knows this, what's the problem? Not meaning offence to others who can't read the log, but as they can't they can't read the logs, they won't really know how to use the 'photoshop' abilities of hijackthis. So there is no damage nor 'disasterous consequences' at all in my opinion... Unless they do start trying to use hijackthis on their own accord - but surely that's their own problem? Anyway, most of the time, people do read the posts from start to end then start a new post of their own on here.

No one should be acting on HJT results without your say-so?! So anyone reading this thread in years to come might have seen that HJT could help identify malware on their system, but because you don't think people should try to fix their PC without your permission you don't think it's necessary to impart such information?

How did you come to know as much as you do about computing? I bet there was a time when you ran HJT for the first time and interpreted the results. From the sounds of it, someone in the same position as you were, who stumbled across this thread while trying to fix a problem, might try HJT and take inappropriate action simply because you couldn't be bothered to mention the "dodgy results" when running the software on a 64-bit OS.

Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)
If you get a message that you cant write to the hosts file then Press the SHIFT key, and whilst holding it RIGHT CLICK and select RUN AS (admin)

If anyone wishes to have a go themselves they can do so if they wish (in fact they can burn their computers for all I care)

Why has this turned into yet another 'attack Rik' thread??

And I really dont need to start answering questions about how I work

lol of course, i was just joking, half of what i say is just to get a reaction out of you guys, and see what you say.

You all fall for it, and some fall for it more than others, it just makes me laugh.

Perhaps because Rik attacks others who try to give advice. Get off your high horse, stop thinking you are God, do what you do best at, leave others alone. Everyone has a right to an opinion and yours is not always the right one.

And why are you calling me an idiot? Nothing better to do?[/QUOTE] aliEnRIK

I abide by the rules of the forum and do not name call or insult individuals.
I didn't call you an idiot, but if the cap fits and it seems it does if you class yourself as one of those idiots with over inflated egos.
Stop trying to stir things by misquoting, or do I need to report you for being a troublemaker.

You have attacked me and others. Again you have dragged the OPs topic away from helping them and turned it onto a slanging match. Kindly post your relevant suggestions and allow others to do the same. I do suggest you seek the guidance of a mental health professional though as you exhibit symptoms of low self esteem. hence your need to attack others and pointlessly defend yourself from imaginary comments.

Stictly speaking true but from post #10...

Too many idiots with over inflated sense of self importance on here giving over the top advice and causing panic.
Where I will agree with aarrgghh though is that from the symptoms it is far more likely to be a fractured wire than a virus...

It would be interesting if the OP would post up their findings eventually.

Can you please point out 'exactly' where ive attacked you so I can at least reply?

It was YOU who first commented on MY post. I just replied to your attack. So unless im missing something, its YOU who initially started veering away from what the OP asked for.

As for the mental health issue - I think we all know which of us has issues here (And clearly nothing better to do with thier lives)
