    Hi
This is the first time I have replied so hope it is ok!

I rang Talk Talk and the guy I spoke to seemed quite happy for me to leave if thats what I wanted. Asked him if they could offer me a better deal to stay (to save the hassle of changing) and he put me through to talk to someone else. They said they were no longer doing the 6.50 deal but they have now matched onetel's 10.99 per month for 6 months. They also said their prices were coming down in the next couple of months anyway!

Haha, Thanks for the sales pitch there. But as TalkTalk customers we all talk to each other for free anyway, and we dont have to pay the admin fee.

Ive been approached by your sales guys before, and your other rates dont match TalkTalk.

I recently took up the talktalk offer and since then i have been pestered by BT retention agents who seem hell bent on reclaiming my hard earn cash for themselves! Well all i can say to anyone who finds themselves in a similar postion is this.....why are they reducing now??? Everyone should take the time to really study what it is you get with BT and ask themselves just how much have they ripped me off down the years if companys such as talktalk can offer fantastic savings from the off!!! The sooner i can have my actual line with another provider the better..in a trully open market Bt wouldnt survive 12 months!!

    >:( I agree with Cost Cutter about wanting to change providers. I left BT for Talk Talk a couple of months ago now but kept BT as my provider. Told BT I wanted to change my direct debit to the minimum £9.50 charge. They said NOT POSSIBLE. They can only set up direct debits for full pounds, i.e. £10. This smells extremely fishy to me. I have numerous other DDs set up with other organisations for obscure amounts. I dread to think how much interest BT is making out of all the extra 50ps. Am I making a mountain out of a mole hill with this one? :-/

It is certainly possible to set up DDs for amounts that are not complete pounds, although perhaps BT's budget scheme doesn't cater for that.

Are you on their budget scheme i.e paying a fixed amount each month.
I pay by whole bill direct debit quarterly.

That way I pay exactly what I owe them.

I don't like budget schemes at all. It's easy to fall behind or pay too much.

When I signed up for talktalk they supplied a form letter to BT to state that I was changing to another service provider [glow=red,2,300][/glow]and they were not to contact me regarding my decision.

Hi. Bit of insider info for you all. The reason the £6.50 offer was withdrawn is due to this website! The customer options team were allowed to offer half price rental on talk 3 only if a cust wanted to leave talktalk, to try and "save" the customer from leaving which usually worked. Because there were hundreds of customers who had read this website and thought they would abuse the system the offer was withdrawn. People must try and remember that TalkTalk are a business after all and have to make some sort of profit to stay a business. If they dont then they will no longer be able to provide the cheaper calls they do now and everyone will loose out, so please remember in the long run being greedy and wanting to save a few quid now may cost you more in the long run! Happy Talking! ::)

totally agree with your sentiments on this .... but dilemma as always is .. if you don't grab it someone else will.
I was one of the lucky few who got the £6.50 deal because i jumped in as quick as i heard of the offer.
Personally i think they were mad offerring it ... their £12.99 was undercut by one-tels £10.99 .... so apart from them needing to reduce to everyone (which i see they still haven't done ) .. why didn't they just offer the £10,99 to those who complained .. we'd have still stuck with them . £6.50 was totally unnecessary.

Conversely ... jumped in a few days ago when martin posted about the 2% cashback amex being available to all .... did application within minutes ... but yesterday received weekly mailing from greasypalm.co including " £15 cashback if you apply for amex 2% card through greasypalm !!!!
