EDF Price changes - just switched to them :-(

Bummer. Switched to them after Xmas and now they've hiked their prices.
I did sign up when they were offering £100 credit so not too bad.
Any ideas how long before I get that and when can I switch to someone who might be cheaper?

We've just received our first Electricity bill and the £75 credit is shown on that, haven't received the gas yet, we went over to EDF on the 15th Dec.
Also I don't think that all the versions of EDF are going up, have you received confirmation that yours are going up?

I actually feel sorry for EDF! I'm a customer and I'm glad that they didn't raise there prices until after the cold winter months. Plus the fact that they have given some new customers £100 for joining! What more could they do? I didn't get the £100 but I'm grateful for the price freeze.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

I couldn't find anything on the EDF website but according to energyhelpline my tariff (online saver v6) is going up by around 15% !!
It was an unbeatable tariff though - last time I checked I think the best "saving" I could make was about MINUS £100

Have a decent computer system !
Have a decent customer services operation.
Provide useful information on their website about which tariffs are affected.
Intervene so that on joining, customers aren't billed on standard tariffs when they signed up online.
Accept your opening meter readings that you provide to them.
I can go on but......:mad:0 -

I'm on the same tariff, surely it can't be going up by 15%! I thought it had to stay a a certain percent lower than the standard tariff? Is there anyway we can get accurate information, I've tried calling but can't seem to get through!0 -
I checked out my online s@ver 6 charges today and sure enough EDF have a new one OSv8 that seems to save me £44 using a couple of comparison sites.
I checked osv7 against osv8 and it seemed to save even more I was curious as I had checked osv7 against my osv6 and it was more expensive.
I decided to check direct with EDF so rang them up and it seems that osv6 im my region will be increasing as follows.
Elec 12.9%
Gas 13.7%
I plugged these increases and the osv7 and v8 values and sure enough the osv8 will save me about £44 on my increased osv6. I thought the headline increases were about 6.5 and 7.5% I guess that means that osv6 is increase to just below 2% of the standard perhaps to cream as much from those customers who don't notice.
Also osv8 is competing with the market headliners, in my case only scottish pwr is slightly better than osv8, £4 approx.
So I just changed over to osv8 today. I'm sort of happy with edf as long as they have a competive product that I can switch to if I so wish.
I'm guessing that there are some osv7 and osv6 who would have less of an increase to allow the average to be much lower than mine.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the info! I'm on Online Saver v6 and when I last compared, v6 was cheaper for me than v7! I will certainly run my figures through again. Is it possible to call EDF and ask them to put me on v8 if its cheaper, I thought we were tied in to v6 until June 2011?0 -

OSV6 is much cheaper than 7 or 8 at the moment, until the rises in March, so best wait till March before switching.
I think they tend to waive the tie-in fee if you switch to a different tariff with them, but best check - if they don't it's not going to be worth switching till July - energyhelpline says I only save £40 a year on the new rates so it's not worth paying £50 to save about £13 over 4 months!0
