Fix melted piston ring

think you might need a new cylinder head.0 -
I am mate just thought with melted piston might not run right and my garage say they cant fix it! Seems odd.

Pull the head off, skim and rebore, add new pistons, job done.0

Garage reckons can't do that on the 1600 zetec. Cant get to bottom end or something? Can it be done? Thanks0

Just the melted piston that's the problem? New one etc garage says can't fix or replace!0

Hi,
I think you will need to find an 'old fashioned garage'.
I did an apprenticeship in one, where you took engines, gearboxes apart and rebuild them.
Jings, new shells on a crankshaft, piston rings, grinding in valves, now a days there are no motor mechanics, just fitters, they would rather put a new engine in that fix it.0
