New virgin customer - feel like I have been conned!

Signed up to Virgin Media the other day as my Sky contract was up for renewal and I thought I was getting a better deal. The prices are average as I can't remember the accurate costs.

Was paying £92 a month with Sky for unlimited Broadband, full TV including ESPN and free evening and weekend calls.

Told the virgin operator I wanted every channel, and the same broadband and call package as Sky were giving us. She quoted around £75 per month. I had to pay £135 deposit and it was installed on Saturday.

Now find out that I haven't been given the full package and need to pay another £27 a month for the sports including EPSN and that my broadband isn't unlimited.

I know theres nothing I can do about it now just annoyed and wanting to have a wee rant really. They also took two lots of £135 as two of the sales staff were calling me trying to beat each other to the sale. One has now been refunded though.

You would be cheaper going vip50 than paying the £7

I think you still have to pay the seven pounds fifty, even if you are on VIP50.

I can't help but wonder why the OP left Sky rather than trimming their package, or possibly getting a retention deal.
Do you really need to subscribe to every channel on the satellite?

Worse than that you cant get Sky Atlantic on Virgin. (Sopranos tonight)

There is a myriad of reasons not to be with Sky. Losing a channel full of repeats and shows no one watches anymore, is no reason to stay either.

The broadband is one of the reasons not to go. With Virgin, you pay for 30mps of broadband, down fibre-optic cable and you get 30mps of broadband, most of the time (generally, the worst I get is 20mps at peak periods). With Sky, the most you can get is up to 20mps, down copper wires. If I paid for that amount, the most I would get would be 8mps (I would be lucky to get 1mps at peak periods).

The subscriber does not own the box. Any faults are repaired, or the box is replaced at no extra cost (with no extra charge for upgraded boxes at point of replacement) no matter how long you have been with them. The signal is not at the mercy of the weather, e.g., heavy rain or snow. There is no extra charge for HD content (apart from the premium channels). The on-demand content is far superior - iPlayer, ITV player 4OD etc., direct to your television set.

Then there are the various offers and discounts, exclusive to Virgin Media customers, with Virgin Mobile.

    Need I go on? ;)

I have just done a bundle build on their website and it adds the seven pounds to the final cart.
