  • I bought one of these and unfortunately it's going to have to go back.

Tried to send the signal from my Humax PVR to the bedroom. Don't currently have a tv in the bedroom (thinking of buying the new Aldi 32" and then demoting the currently used Samsung 19" 940MW to there) but do have an stereo, so tried that out using the supplied red/white audio leads and it's awful. No matter where I place both the receiver and sender the sound crackles. Unplugged the router and cordless phone, turned off the pc (has wireless keyboard and mouse), same with the Xbox 360 and wireless pads - and it all made no difference (tried channels A-D too).

I messed about with things and even with the sender and the receiver in the same room (literally a few feet apart) it made as much noise, so perhaps I'm getting interference from other local networks (I live in an apartment and my pc picks up six of my neighbours routers).

Would have liked it to have worked as if I do get a new tv and stick the current one in the bedroom, I'll either have to get a decent set-top aerial or run ugly cables through to the bedroom (which will only give me terrestrial channels), rather than a remote controlled feed from my DVD player/PVR that the video sender would have give me (if not for all the crackle and interference).

Grrr! Ah well, nothing ventured nothing gained.

can i ask please,my tv in bedroom os quite old
so what needs plugging into it as there is no scart socket
also where does it connect downstairs as i already have 3 scart leads running through a connector box thingy

    thanks anyone

Re the old TV, if it has an AV input then use that. If it doesn't, try using the aerial output on the receiver to the TVs' aerial input.

The quality won't be as good but it might just be good enough...

mad.dog - sounds like you got a faulty one, mate. Try swapping it - shame to return it if it was actually better than the one from Tesco, aye?

I have had to use the aerial output on the receiver for my portable in the kitchen (as it has no scart or composite inputs) - Suprisingly I found the picture quality to be very good via the RF output when receiving freeview - certainly a vast improvement on analogue via the loop aerial i was using before.
  • sender is waste of time, fugged up my wireless conection works on same 2.4ghz, tried abcd no luck:money:

We have two wireless video senders working without too many hitches, one in the kitchen for the tv to watch whilst using the treadmill, the other for transmitting telewest cable image to the bedroom tv, and this is the pc monitor/tv and the pc has a wireless receiver, connecting it to the router, which is right by the video receiver!

Yes it is a small house admittedly, and yes having a pace box on telewest the remote doesnt change the channel (not a problem if you want to watch a set program in bed anyway).

But most important information I can give for those having problems with their wireless connection interfering with the video receiver is to go into their settings for their wireless router and change the frequency channel from there, problem should then be solved!

I much prefer using a video sender personally than have cables going through walls and putting up with the slight annoyance of someone walking past it, I guess you have to assess how many people are living in your house, the size of the house and just exactly what equipment you wish to send the wireless signal through...for example the remote receiver wont work with pace telewest boxes (not a problem for me, put it on the channel you want to watch before viewing). If you are only using it for dvd playback in another room, it will be cheaper to buy a budget dvd player.
  • Go mine a few days ago,
say 100M on the box but read in the paperwork, that's if you use it outside.
Used inside it drops to 30M.
Useless to me as I live in a bungalow that's only 20M and the signal is unwatchable.
Never been able to beat a bit of Coax,
not gonna bother with wireless again, it's more trouble than it's worth.
