  • We bought one of these last year and use it to connect the Freeview
box in one room to DDs bedroom. She uses the remote and changes channels with no probs.

I think the remote issue is particularly with NTL/Telewest Pace boxes as apparently they have a different type of remote control system... IRDA or something!

Re these video senders - I bought one from ALdi 2 years ago for sending AV and remote control signals from DVR & TV on different floor levels (well within its spec).

AV signal is easily upset if anyone is in the vicinity of the signal transmission path. Also, IR (remote control) can be very flakey. Am now at the stage where it won't work at all! :(

When lined up exactly, the unit does a good job sending clear images but I guess it's at its best when only sending to an adjacent room. Not having the IR control sort of defeats the whole object of the game for me though.

Noticed that Aldi have a 3 year guarentee so will approach their customer services today and see how good they are after this sort of time period...

I got an Aldi video sender kit earlier in the year and have to say that i've been quite disappointed with the quality of the reception and the fact that you can only seem to clone another TV's reception with it, meaning that the other TV is then under control too.

I was hoping that it would wirelessly broadcast the TV signal from the socket and not make it a slave from another TV.

BE careful !!......I had one last year....REMOTE..Does NOT work via telewest.
  • I got one from Tesco (£24.99) and it worked well for a while. Then one of the neighbours got wifi and everything stopped working due to too much interference. So, if you have wifi or wireless phones, best avoid

These things are a waste of money if you ask me. I wished i'd saved my money and ran a cable up. At least the picture quality would have been better and if i'd done it myself it would have been cheaper too.

    Hi Skint

What make and model is your telewest receiver? Which remote sender do you use, can you change channels from upstairs or whereever you have your receiver placed?

    Sorry for all the questions.

  • Does anyone know what the quality is like for audio only? I want one to be able to listen to internet radio taken from a PC upstairs to a hifi downstairs. Was looking for some wireless speakers but this is cheaper and could be plugged intop existing hifi. Thanks.
