Think my dress will fit now ! I have never been this weight before !

I'm not being funny... but it's not your OH wearing the dress so why is he making the decisions for you? You'll be fine trying it on again - you won't damage it.
Good point actually. You didn't buy the dress you originally wanted because your OH didn't like it. You bought this one that he does like instead. You're not wearing the modesty panel with it even though it will probably help the dress lie better because your OH doesn't want you to. Now you wont try it on again to see if it fits or if it needs let out or you need another one because your OH says not to. Is he wearing the dress or are you? Where are you in all this?
Try the dress on now you've lost weight. Report back with pics if you can, and we'll help. If your OH complains tell him to take a long walk off a short pier.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
:rotfl:I'm with the poster who pointed out that your OH seems to be making all the decisions about your dress - but they are all decisions which are adding to your stress levels! Why is he doing that to you? (And is this why we have a tradtion that the groom doesn't get to see the bride in her wedding dress until the actual ceremony?!)
At the risk of sounding creepy
, you have a beautiful figure. You look absolutely stunning in the dress that you tried on in the shop :T. The one which is positioned properly, tied up properly, and has the proper modesty panel in place.
You also have a beautiful shape in the other two photos. I'm quite sure that you would look equally stunning in that dress if it was also positioned properly, tied up properly and had the proper modesty panel in place!
Please try it on again, with the help of someone who knows a bit more about the positioning and tying part (so, not your husband-to-be - sorry!). Try it with and without the modesty panel, and see what you think suits you best, and what you'd be most comnfortable with.
In the original photo, you don't look like someone who needs to lose weight, tbh. But, if you've already lost the best part of a stone, then you should see a definite difference in how your dress looks - once it's on you properly. Please try that out as soon as you can.
If you're on a diet which leaves you with no energy, then that's a problem. Chances are that you're also looking less than your usual radiant self.
Like others have said, try the dress on (with proper help). If it's still not right, please think seriously about getting a bigger dress, and eating a reasonable diet, which gives you energy and radiance for your big day.0 -
wedding dresses tend to be in US sizing, so a US 12 is a UK 14
when buying second-hand you, really need to check whether the owner has used the correct sizing for advertising - most just assume that as they bought the dress in the uk, the sizing is in uk measurements
a lace-back dress should be more forgiving than a zip up dress as you can make allowance for weight loss/gain
with the width of the opening on your dress, tbh i think the sizing is way off - which then makes me wonder whether the original owner has had the dress altered, or has given the wrong sizing?
ok, trying not to get personal, but are you quite busty, and perhaps thats whats causing the top of the dress to gape so much?

That's a point, I don't think the OP mentioned where she got it from, so it could have been altered by someone else, but they have just described it as a size 12.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
In a different post the OP put a link to her dress ...I believe it was described as a size 12 but could fit 10-14 because of the lace up back the measurements were clearly displayed
bust 36in
waist 30in
hips 34in
Sadly I think she went for the size of dress she hoped she would be on her wedding day rather than the size she was when she bought it...I think for the dress to look its best it would need to be worn by a size 10 woman on those measurements.

Thanks for your help but the dress has got the same label as the one I tried on in the shop which is a 12. I think with hindsight the difference comes in the style of the dress.
I have added some more pictures taken today and I feel that it will be fine, I am still losing weight and will be able to get to a sustainable weight by the time we get married. (I do know that the lace is twisted in todays photo)
Thank You all for your support. I am happy that it will be fine

My daughter had a similer style , it fitted fine when she tried it on in the shop , she lost a stone between then and bringing it home , then tried it on with future MIL doing it up ..........it wouldnt go anywhere near her , there was nothing wrong with the sizing , its a knack getting it on right i think , .It was fine on the day btw lol...............and i think the dress is designed to have a bit of a gap with a modesty panel?Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0
