OMG  please don't tell me there are different sizes ??? The dress in the shop definately had a size 12 Maggie label in, the same as the one I have got. I didn't realise that they came in different. I thought that all Maggie sizes were the same, ie size 12 is more like street size 14.

In the shop they put me in a 14 (differnt style maggie) that was way too big and also a 10 (maggie) that was slightly too small ???

Have a made a major !!!! up whilst trying to be MSE ?

I didn't mean to make you panic, but No, if they both have a 12 tag in them, then they should be the same sizing but different styles can make the dress vary on the fitting.

What I meant was, if the lady in the shop asked your size and you said a 12, the dress could have actually been tagged as a 14/16 (wedding dress sizes are mad) but fitted your size 12 body.

Try the dress on again, take no notice of what your OH says as they're not the one panicking about it fitting xx

Do you know how much you've lost in inches? I'd imagine you need to have lost about 2in from your chest, which is possible with a weight loss of 11lbs, but everyone loses from different places!

To make sure it's sitting in the right place, position it correctly and then hold it in place on your boobs while you are laced in. Don't cross your arms - put your left hand on your left boob, right on right, and hold the dress still. Don't move until you're laced in. It does look like it's sitting too low, but hard to tell without seeing it from the front.

My dress had a modesty panel and I wouldn't have dreamed of wearing it without it. Trust H2B to want more flesh on display!

Thanks, The picture with the modesty panel is a different maggie dress, its the one i liked best, the one I have is without the panel. OH didn't like the one I did over my bum ! He liked the picture of the second one , I did too, but I thought that a size 12 maggie would be the same sizing.

OH is adamant that the dress eyelets "won't take being put on and off!" Men ! I keep saying that they are tried on all the time in shops !

I'm not being funny... but it's not your OH wearing the dress so why is he making the decisions for you? You'll be fine trying it on again - you won't damage it.

I have bought a maggie dress as well and I have ordered my dress in a size 10, which is about a dress size smaller than I am currently. The woman in the shop brought out the sizing chart and told me what my measurements would need to be to make sure I fit into the dress. The way she put it is I could lose another 2 stone but if I don't lose the inches it won't make a difference as it's that that's important. So is there anywhere you can find the information as to what size, in inches, you'll need to be to get into the dress? I can give you the sizes I was told to get into a size 10 if thats of any help?

Yes please if you couldtell me the sizes for a 10 I can look at them, thank you so much

Do you mind me asking a question....do you feel comfortable in the dress?

if the answer is no then it doesnt matter what size charts you look at to see if you bought the right or wrong size.... you need to make a decision about moving forward either by an excersise/eating regime to get into the dress or decide you need a bigger dress...the only way to see if the dress fits in my opinion is to put it back on tonight now that you have lost 11lbs you will need someone to lace you up properly and see if you feel comfortable in it...until you make that decision you cant move forward...but the longer you put off making that decision the less chance there will be to fit into that dress for your wedding

you want to enjoy your wedding and the holiday you are having not spend the time worrying about putting on or indeed taking off weight.
If you do feel comfortable in the dress then go out and wear it with pride

LEJC - I think the aim of supplying her with the sizes is so she knows what size she needs to get down to for the dress to fit, not to see if she's bought the right size or not IYSWIM[/QUOTE]

She only has 7 or 8 weeks before her wedding...and possibly still a bit to lose in terms of inches around the back area....it may not be possible to lose that much so in honesty I think its wrong to fret about it ...Hopefully as the dress hasnt been tried on since the loss of weight its achievable but I think she may also need to be realistic about other options....at the end of the day the dress is one size and she is another...she already knows in her heart how much she needs to lose to make it comfortable for her..supplying the measurments wont change the dress...sorry

afitos - here's what i would do now.

    1) Try it on again, as you've lost so much since the last trial - you might find that there isn't much left to go, or all you really need is a pair of huggy-in pants and a couple of days on fluid retention tablets. However, if that isn't the case then i would go with:

    2) Sell the dress on ebay and buy another in the right size, we'll all help you hunt for one on the plethora of websites that sell them.

At the end of the day you don't want to spend the weeks running up to your big day on a horrible diet, stressing out because you're worried the dress won't fit. You'll end up walking down the aisle with bags under your eyes from worry and a stomach uncler from all the stress. Be kind to yourself and get a dress that's both comfortable and beautiful - WE WILL HELP YOU, I promise.

May I add - even if you were to go on a silly 'eat nothing' diet to shed the 'weight' for the day... the moment you eat anything during your reception you will more than likely balloon and then feel so uncomfortable. Far better to get a dress that is the right size for you. :)

Or she could just try the dress on again and see if it fits?
