Free £20 John Lewis Voucher With An HSBC Online Saver

  • Looking back at the earlier threads when HSBC have previously run this offer one poster says;

    "If you apply for the savings account, make sure you remember which credit card number you quote on the on line application. I couldn't understand why they wanted this info so I quoted one of my stooze cards which I never use for anything else. Several weeks later I finally managed to get to the point where I was authenticating my new account & was asked, as a security question, for the last 4 digits of the credit card I entered in the application. Needless to say, I hadn't a clue!"

    So hopefully that explains why they asked for credit card details, must say I thought that was pretty strange!

    At the end of the application, it says they will email to confirm receipt - but I haven't received a message. Then it goes on to say I will be informed of the result of my application in 5 days. Has anyone else had this problem?

    I guess that the credit card details are part of their online identification procedures - on the first page they also asked for driving licence number and electricity account number. I think these are all things they can check with a credit reference agency to confirm your ID.

    I applied 3 days ago and I haven't heard a thing yet, not even a confirmation email. I get the feeling that they will have been bombarded with applications.
  • Same here, no confirmation e-mail for me =(

    I have not heard anything since applying but I know things are afoot because an unrecorded search was made for me and my partner on Thursday.

    Thanks for your great reply....

    I have just re-read Martin's post and incase anyone wants a quick answer to my question, keep the money in there till the end of January which is when the voucher should come.

    I know a lot of people on here don't like newbies, however I have been a member of the Rpoints board for years and we have always helped up newbies with questions, even if they are sometimes quite obvious questions.

    Anyway, a good offer still. Thanks Martin!

    I got a letter today for activating my account and was wondering whether the account was opened when I applied or on the day it is activated?
