I've just bought one today from Currys, Kenwood FP194. It's in the sale at 31.99 down from just under 80 quid. It doesn't peel, and I dont think it does dough but it does everything else. I briefly had a food processor last year and wanted to use it to make all my bread dough but I couldn't find one that would take the capacity I needed for a reasonable price.

I'm not very good at succinct. Why say something in 10 words when 100 will do?

  • Blimey, that's a lot of money for a food processor! I've got a Kenwood FP that we bought at a Carboot sale for £12! It does all I need it to do - full price I think it would be around £50 it does all that I need it to do. With an unlimited budget I'd go for a nice shiny Magimix with the large feed tube but other than the wide feed tube I'm not sure how much benefit you get for the extra money!

  • Your budget may stretch to the lower end of the Magimix line, which are supposedly very good. But my budget was much less so I haven't had any personal experience with them.

I have had the Kenwood FP730 for about a year and have no complaints. The link I provided doesn't show all the attachments that it comes in the pictures, but if you check the description you can see it's a LOT! I did a quick comparison with the 950 and can only see that the latter comes with built in scales and is stainless steel instead of white. Not worth the £100 price difference, IMO.
  • I just posted in another thread about the processor I have, which is the Kenwood FP730. I don't think any of them will peel (but someone is welcome to correct me if they know of one!) but it definitely does the rest very well. Note that most food processors won't do a great job of beating if you need to incorporate a lot of air, due to the closed bowl design. But for mixes where this isn't important, they're great.
  • What about the FP920? I'm suffering with a chest infection atm so struggling to make much sense of much.

Again, I think you're mostly paying for the steel body, and a glass liquidiser jug instead of plastic. You can run a comparison on Kenwood's site, but it seems to me that the primary differences in the top end of the Multipro line are style/finish rather than function. The actual functions and other attachments seem nearly identical.

Personally - unless you REALLY want a steel body, I'd go for a lower Multipro model (the one I have is the lowest in the large bowl models) and if DH wants to spend more, use the difference on something else. :D
