Thanks for the reply, I visited that store again because of lack of funds to travel anywhere else. And with the higher prices in the smaller local convenience stores, they just are not feasable with my money situation as things stand after my wallet was stolen, I am now walking large distances to other shops, its just the inconvenience of the situation and the fact such a huge chain like Tesco's just do not care

Have you not heard of the saying.....pick your battles carefully!

If that was the only shop you knew where complaining could get you and it has and now you suffer more.
The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!

4 people on the ignore list....Bliss!

Wow, you're either !!!!!! or you should have paid more attention in school. That is the single, most incoherent post that I have ever seen on MSE.

I once got sacked by a store manager of a morrisons store because he was trying a power trip and didnt like that i stuck up for myself. He told me I could either go back down to work (I had asked to leave because I really wasn't feeling well enough to work), or I could go home and not come back because "he could find a million other pathetic checkout staff". I told everybody as I left about his views on the workers as dispensable tools. Needless to say, after my line manager complained that he had sacked a member of her staff etc, he asked me to come back in two weeks later to "discuss what happened". I told him no, and complained myself to head office. Didn't get a reply, didn't chase a reply. I was already working full time, and had 2 part time jobs so losing one weekend/evening job didn't bother me.
I was told he had a few more people complain about him, but I don't know if he is still in the job, nor do I care.
At the end of the day you get some Managers who are just complete w*****s and some who are awesome...luck of the draw I guess.
  • In answer to the Wallet, allegedly, being stolen with my wages. Get a bank account or building society account and pay the money in there.

In answer to the Shop Assistants etc. I fully support USDAWS campaign against violence and abuse to Shop Workers

Sorry, Freddie cannot be more unhelpful

I would like to hear the managers side to this story, not that we are ever going to, it takes a lot to be banned from a store like Tesco's. Remember shop staff don't have to put up with the crap some of the public throw their way. I would assume there is more than this than the way the OP tells it.

that would be my feeling as well but im guessing we wont get any more information,

you were helpful as always freddie,
  • Thanks everybody for the responses, I have now heard back about my complaint, but unfortunately its not good news

I contacted the Chief Executive of Tesco's via the e-mail address provided in earlier replies.

In response to my e-mail Tesco has decided that they are going to enforce the ban on me. The manager has told them that I acted in an aggressive and intimidating manner. Which I totally dispute (and hope CCTV evidence will back up) In the past I have worked in shops myself, and had to put up will all sorts of abuse. Because of my own experiences, I would never act in that way, and want to make it clear to the posters who have quoted it that I too whole heartedly support the USDAWS campaign. But also beleive that I should have the right to complain without the fear of being banned.

I now need to work out my next move, I am going to try out some online home delivery shopping, I am a great beleiver in looking for positives in all situations, and the manager has probably done me a favour, because I wont have to carry heavy shopping bags anymore. If there is anybody on this forum who uses these services already, any reccomendations will be greatfully received.

With regards to my complaint I am tempted to contact the press, because I really dont think it is fair that customers are getting overcharged, especially in the current ecomomic climate. I may not have been successful in getting the ban lifted, but will do everything I can to draw as much attention to what Tesco have done. And hopefully help some others along the way.
