when my DD was very broke a few years ago she had to buy some basic value tea bags from Tescos and to say they were dross was insulting to dross. She complained to the manager and his attitude was well what do you expect from such a cheap product. She became very angry at his condesending manner and complained to their head office and asked if anyone there had actually tasted the rubbish they were selling. She had a £10 voucher back and a letter of apology byreturn post. She has always said its worth carrying on with a complaint as they do not like the media to become involved.true the tea bags were inexpensive but they were little more than sawdust and made a terrible cuppa.

I've got a box of these unopened in the cupboard, I'm really looking forward to them now. :)

  • Its very true they dont want bad publicity, these managers are terrible, there are plenty of people out there who would love their job, Mr T & Co needs to sort this out it would appear, and fast.

Interesting by contrast, I had an issue yesterday with something from M&S, they could not have been more professional in how they dealt with it, replaced it, refunded, and spent a lot of time going over the details and sent a report and complaints form to the supplier by email there and then with me beside them, requesting both they and myself got a full explanation etc. They handled it very efficiently and with genuine apology, sounds like Mr T needs to take note.

I tried them and didnt mind them at all, yet a friend of mine hated them and gave them to me! think it depends on your taste, I bought Sainsburys Red Label x 160 when they were half price, you can make a strong cuppa and then reuse the teabag a 2nd time! :) my 10yo who is very proudly (and cerefully!) making me cups of tea discovered this as he is learning about economising and cutting back, bless his socks! x

Try the Sainsburys basics tea bags at 28p.

I am not a great tea lover but these are quite nice, well worth a try and if you don't like them you have only lost 28p. ;)
  • I used to swear by PG Tips until I thought about what they were costing. Tried the Lidl cheapies, no good, tried the Tesco cheapies, no good, then I tried the Sainsbury Basics ones and have not changed since. Even had a friend that popped by not long after I converted saying that she always loved my tea as I was the only one of her friends that used the same as her - PG Tips!! I showed her the box and the Tea Bag (different shape!!) and she converted too, she could not tell the difference!

  • thanks both, I will try the Sainsburys basics ones next time and see how I go, will let you know! x

Do the Sainsburys basic teabags make a strong cup of tea? I'm a PG Tips fan and can't imagine that the basics will taste like PG. If they do I'll try a box as 27p is as cheap as chips!

I like strong(ish) tea and I would say these Sainsburys ones do make a strong cuppa.
