Dont Even Know Where To Start .......

Hiya,
Stop beating yourself up - what's done is done.
You hubby is not liable for your debts in any way. Also, your home is not at risk. Technically, there is no reason for hubby to give up anything.
As suggested, discuss this with cccs before speaking to hubby.
After you've spoken to them, get back to us on here.
The truth is, as only you are liable and you have no income (which is your own), you may just simply end up on tiny token payments for a long time.

In my head I want to start paying it back - dont you think that is possible in at least some part? Does bankcrupcy affect my husband too?
BR won't affect hubby at all.
They will take nothing, believe me........;)Happiness, is a Kebab called Doner.....:heart2::heart2:0 -

Erm.. coming and taking things only happens if your are a very wealthy pop-star who has fallen on hard times.
Us mere mortals do not generally have much that the OR is interested in. Got any antiques? Hanging the walls with Renoirs? Or listening to Bang and Olufsen?
If you have a car, the OR might take that, but if you NEED it (rather than want it), he may well let you have money to buy a small one.
Unless your pension allows you to take the money out at your age, that is also likely to be safe.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Its all so scary and unknown. I literally only started doing a tiny bit of reading on Thursday night when my husband was at work, and then hit it all again today.
When I phone CCCS will they be able to talk to me straight away?'Don't judge me 'till you have walked a mile in my shoes'0 -
Yep normally,
Don't worry, we'll get you through this.Happiness, is a Kebab called Doner.....:heart2::heart2:0 -
They tend to be rather busy, so it takes a while to get through.
if you do the debt remedy on-line it is much easier for them to help you.
They may make a booking to ring you back for a longer chat later, just ask for one at a time that suits you.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Listen, don't worry about losing ANYTHING until you get it all clear in your mind after speaking with CCCS and your husband. What's the point in worrying about something that may never happen, you'll just make yourself ill.
On my first call to CCCS they took all the details of debts, income etc and gave some initial advice straightaway then book you in for a telephone appointment to go through everything in more depth. Just take one step at a time and don't let your mind go racing ahead about what might or may not ever happen0 -
The car is in my husband's name, and he has a few bits put away - a modest ISA and a modest (thanks to the economy) stocks and shares ISA. I had a cash ISA in my name too, but I have blown that on meeting minimum payments.
I have a mini cooper (proper one not the new one) in my name, but its not been on the road, taxed or tested for 7 years now, its just garaged - should I be changing that to his name?
Oh god, what a bloody mess.
Thing is, all I want to do is have a glass of wine.'Don't judge me 'till you have walked a mile in my shoes'0 -
But I am assuming I just give them MY info (ie no income) as the debt is in my name? Otherwise surely they will base repayments on my husbands income etc?
The real !!!!!! is that if I wasnt so stupid, we could have a nice little life on his salary, and as planned I would go back to work in 2 years when my little-est one starts school. We couldnt have an exotic life, but ok, not struggling. But no, couldnt do that could I? problem was I was in too deep by then .....'Don't judge me 'till you have walked a mile in my shoes'0 -
Hi
The minicooper may be at risk, but you must not start changing the names on things now. How much do you think it is worth in its current condition?
If an OR find that you have depriving yourself of assets, then you would be in big trouble.
Do however go over tot he BR forum and have a chat with them. They will have more idea than me.
The OR is not interested in your OH's assets or in his car. He would ask for details of his income and expenditure; to make sure that you were not paying all the household costs from your income and leaving him to swan off to Tenerife. Otherwise, he would only be interested in your assets and income. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
