OK, dumb question time, I assume it'd be a waste of time washing down walls painted in (non-washable) matt emulsion????0

Don't buy it at Wickes - I didn't get some the other day at Wilkos because it was £1.70ish and I thought if you are finding it for £1, maybe I could get it cheaper elsewhere.
Searched loads of stores with no joy, so dh said he's pick up a box from Wickes when he was out doing some deliveries.
It was £3.70-ish! I'm glad I have some now but I really could have used the extra £2 to buy fruit at the market. If it wasn't so far away I'd consider returning it.
Anyway, our landlord is coming on Thurs morning to do our annual inspection so I need to get some marks off the skirting boards and walls, will do it after I've finished my cuppa.
Very glad to have read this thread. :T:happylove0 -
When we moved into this house the wall behind the hob in the kitchen was so thick with dirty grease it was sickening. I tried everything but scouring pads clogged up in seconds and still didn't shift it and stuff like Jif had no impact at all. Even washing soda didn't help. Then I tried sugar soap and it just wiped off!!
Magic stuff! It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
The skirting boards and stairs look fantastic. I didn't think they would come up so shiney - and squeaky clean! I've been wiping with diluted Stardrops (my usual cleaner) and microfibre cloth, but sugar soap is definitely the way to go for woodwork.
I did use it on some marks on the walls (non-washable paint) and while they didn't all come completely clean, they look a heck of a lot better and a fair few dissapeared.
Now I just need to do the tiles behind the cooker, and the floor on Wed. Fab stuff. Thanks again OP.:happylove0 -

thats a good price where did you get yours from?:hello:"Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit, wisdom is knowing it doesn't go in a fruit salad0 -
yes, please do share where you got it from. I know someone has already asked this but it wasnt really answered, can you use it on walls with paint on them that isnt washable? I have tried to clean my walls on numerous occasions but the paint just comes off and all I am using is a soft cloth and water! (I blame the rubbish paint my landlord chose...I'm so annoyed that this has been left for me to sort out though when it was the previous tenant who has made the marks!!)0

It might not be the rubbish paint. I had this problem when I moved into my current flat and when I tried to paint the walls and ceiling were just soaking it up like a sponge. The answer was a mixture of water and a PVA solution on first then once dry, paint over the top. Perhaps this is what's happening with yours?
Anyway, sounds like a quick wash down with sugar-soap might take all of the paint off rather than just the marks!0
