Firstly huge congratulations. What a lovely surprise. Quite a daunting prospect though hey. I found it hard enough to think how I would cope with one baby.

Is there a local sure-start centre near you? My local ones hold sessions for parents of multiples. Will help you meet other parents nearby who are going through the same experience.

Your midwife could also possibly have info on other groups that are running for mums of 2 or more.

    Thank u every1 so much.

Things don't seem as daunting now. I need t speak t midwife bout top n tiling twins in cot as getting conflicting advice. If I can my only really big expense will be the pram is there any twin mummy with advice on which 1 to go for I like the i candy but u have t take them apart to fold them. Then I like the baby jogged mini twin side by side but worried bout getting through doors lol.

Then if I buy something every week I'm sure We will be fine.

Congrats on your twins! My friend has twins and they are fab, they sleep together too, her MW said not to do it so they went out and bought 2 cots, 2 moses baskets and then the twins refused to settle without each other and they ended up sharing so mum can get some rest. They are both now in beds (the cots turned into beds as the kids got older so that was less expense in the long run) and she'll settle them in their own bed and by morning one would have snuggled in with the other.

She said they are very easy to raise unless they are being bratty and setting each other off. Most of the time they amuse each other. She did breastfeed for the first 3 months - looked like hard work!

    Hello,

I am a new user but just wanted to say that I have only found out a few weeks ago that I am pregnant with twins too.

I also live in only a 2 bed and I have a 9 1/2 year old son, so I have a large age gap.

It is very daunting and I get frustrated that everything is geared up for one baby and all the magazines and websites have little info on twins, to the point where when you register for baby clubs you can't even state that you are having two babies :(

I hope you find some help and support soon.

  • Hello - have just read this post and not posted myself for ages. Firstly many congratulations -having twins is very special! Secondly, as others have said on here already - you do survive and I'm saying that from first-hand experience as my twins (girl + boy) are now nearly 28......... It's hard work but well worth it and I wouldn't have changed it for the world. Although at one point, I did have this idea that I'd quite like just one baby (the twins were about 4 at the time) and both my hubbie + Mum said they'd leave the country.... Can't imagine why!
Seriously, enjoy those babies when they arrive, it only seems like yesterday that we brought ours home from hospital and here they are nearly 28 - both solicitors and we are very proud of them.
    Best wishes,
