Completely agree. Whatever happened to people saving up to buy things. You have 9 months to provide your baby with the things it will require and with websites like ebay and gumtree it doesn't cost anywhere near £500 for the essentials. The funny thing is that the majority of people that I know that are complaining are raking in more than I earn working full time on their benefits.

And if you get made redundant part-way through being pregnant? Should the baby just go without?

All babies have a father ;) or do they become redundant at the same time.
    *SIGH*
    :D
  • Like I said you have 9 months to think about how to provide for a baby whether you are employed or on benefits you have a duty to provide. Save up!
  • This thread is making me laugh. Me and OH got made redundant in the same week of Dec 2008, with baby due in April 2009. We used our redundancy money and bought secondhand off ebay and then put the stuff he'd finished with back on ebay.

How the hell did my question get turned into a benefit bashing thread.

FGS if you have issues can't you go thrash it out in discussion time or the arms?

You do not need to be so rude!!

It wasn't rude. It was a perfectly reasonable observation that you have objected to.
