Cheapest place to buy Global Keratin shampoo/conditioner (and other sodium free)?

Hi,

I've taken the plunge and signed up on Groupon for a Brazilian Blowdry - the Global Keratin version.

I've been reading up on it and know that you mustn't use sodium/sulphate containing hair products.

I can't find the actual Global Keratin brand of shampoo any cheaper anywhere, it is £15 everywhere I've seen it.

I'm have the treatment done this Friday, so need to have something by then else I'll be washing out the treatment with normal shampoo.

So, does anyone know anywhere cheaper to buy the Global Keratin products, and also are there any other sodium/sulphate free brands people would recommend?

I also swim (which I know the chlorine will slowly undo the treatment but I can't help that) and use an anti-chlorine shampoo. Is there such a thing as a sodium/sulphate free anti-chlorine shampoo??

Many thanks!

Do they not give you a bottle of shampoo as part of the treatment? I have had 2 different types of the treatment done and with one I got shampoo and conditioner and the other one I just got shampoo. If the salon do the treatment they will sell the shampoo.

I don't know how much you are paying for the treatment but you are wasting your money if you don't use the correct shampoo.

    Hi Ali,

Thanks for the reply. Yes the salon sell it, and on the day of treatment I get 10% discount. But being an MSE I wanted to check if this could be bettered.

As you say, using normal shampoo will gradually undo the treatment which is why I want to make sure I'm prepared before I have it done.

However at present, I'd say I use one 250ml shampoo per fortnight and at least one 200ml conditioner per week. So as it's around £15 for one 300ml of either shampoo or conditioner it might get expensive!

So if salon really is cheapest, then when I go I'll buy 3 months' worth there and then. If not I will just buy one and order the rest online.

Also ideally still need anti chlorine sodium and sulphate free shampoo which I've found nothing on.

Flipping heck, you don't half get through the shampoo. I only wash my hair once or twice a week so it takes me months (and months) to get through that much shampoo.

When I said that I got the shampoo at the salon I meant as part of the treatment, you get a bottle included in the price so that would give you extra time to find a cheaper variant of it.

You will find that when you get the treatment it is like you don't actually wash your hair, it is like you wash the keratin as I find my hair never gets that squeaky clean way until the keratin is nearly gone. It might be to do with the sulphate free shampoo's not foaming much - this has taken me a while to get used to!

Hope you like the results, I don't think I will ever go back to not having it while I have longer hair.

    Hi ali,

Sorry for abrupt reply earlier, I was typing on my mobile so trying to keep it brief!

Well for as long as I can remember, I've washed my hair every morning. Although a lot of it is to do with making it look decent, a big part of it is for me to feel reasonable too. I feel absolutely horrible if my hair isn't washed - even if it looks passable, and even if I'm just sat at home and nobody is going to see me. Sound silly I know!

As it seems that washing does make the treatment come out more quickly, I am going to *try* to maybe wash every other day, and see how I go. But I honestly don't think I will be able to stick to it as I'll feel too awful.

I've never used the sodium-free products before, but have heard others complain of the lack of foaming. I can imagine that'll be odd to get used to - but all very worthwhile if it prolongs nice hair!!

I have been looking at this, it looks great. Thanks for the recommendation :)

One question - looking at the Organix products, most seem to be sodium or sulphate free, but not both. The only one I saw that was free of both, was the specialist Organix Brazilian Keratin Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner. Is this the one you use?

I had a look at Boots online and they don't have this particular one, but maybe they have it in store. Even if they don't and I can't get the 2 for £7 offer, at around £7 each it is less than half the price of the alternative I was looking at, so thank you :D

Well just a quick update. I rang Boots and they don't stock the Organix Brazilian Keratin Therapy Shampoo or Conditioner. So I've taken the plunge and bought some on Amazon. At least now I will have it in time for the treatment, and I am happy as it's cost less than half price of the Global Keratin branded version.

Thanks again for all the help :)

You do know you can't wash your hair for 3 days after the treatment, don't you? You can't tie/clip it back/tuck it behind ears during that time either.

I had the treatment on Saturday and have only been able to wash my hair today. Longest 3 days of my life.

I bought the shampoo and conditioner from the salon, and had no problems with lack of suds when I used it.

My hair looks fab today - I'm really pleased.
