  • Black is worn a lot by loads of people everyday so I don't think it really is a 'mourning' colour for most people (and living near a crematorium it is rare that everyone will be in black at a funeral too). With bright accessories no-one would think you were going to a funeral.

Have a quick word with the bride and groom and if they don't mind and you love the dress then go for it. No point in buying something you don't like as much as you won't wear it as often...
  • What a lovely dress it would look lovely with a pink jacket.
I wore a black dress to one of my neices wedding. I wore a cream jacket and a black fascinator. Everyone said how nice it looked. Co-ordinated with DH who wore a black suit with cream shirt.
Another one of my neices had a black and white theme for her wedding. White dress with black trimming and adult bridesmaids wore black and small bridemaids wore white with black sashes.
It`s definately ok to wear black for weddings. Have a nice time.
  • I think the dress will look lovely, I recently went to a friends wedding, her mum wore a black and cream dress with matching accessories and a black hat, she looked very classy. Looking at wedding photo's on facebook of my daughter's friends weddings, several people chose black outfits, they didn't look like they were going to a funeral, they looked very smart.

Personally I love black and bright pink accesories but anything bright will look nice with it.

I was a bridesmaid a few years ago and we were in black - my friend was marrying an American guy and wanted a "transatlantic" feel to the wedding so that English guests didn't feel too out of place by the Americanisms and the Americans didn't feel too lost by the Englishness.

We were in long black evening dresses and really made the bride stand out, she looked fabulous!

Some might not say that black is an appropriate colour for a wedding guest or bridesmaid but I've seen a family friend put her bridesmaids in BRIGHT turqoise because it was her favourite colour ... when I saw the photos all you could see was the bridesmaids, you had to actively search for the bride
