I would never have thought that was a wedding outfit. She looks like she's going somewhere far more sombre!Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I've not worn black myself to a wedding before - but I just like the excuse to wear bright colours! But I've seen other guests who have, and they don't seem out of place at all.
It looks like a gorgeous dress, and sounds like you've thought carefully about it - and it's the sort of dress that you'll be able to reuse over and over again I imagine!
If you did decide you wanted to get costs down further - esp. with paying down debts, I can't recommend ebay highly enough! I had loads of weddings to go to last year, and all the same group of people, so I 'had' to buy a lot of outfits and got some really lovely dresses for complete bargain prices. People wear them once, then sell them - so it's almost like newAlso boohoo.com have a big selection of dresses at the moment, most are under £20! *Must not buy them, must not buy them*

oh yes, and to get the dress down from the original cost of £119 to £65 is impressively good work! Very MSE!!!0 -
It's a beautiful dress and I don't think it would be out of place at all! Been to very many weddings where several guests have worn black-myself included! If it's not de-rigeur for a wedding then why make black fascinators and black/white or black/cream hats? SUrely these are made and bought for people wearing black at a wedding? I think black is extremely elegant and very chic and not at all morbid. My mother's wedding dress was black with orange flowers on (was 1973!) and my sister in law got married in a black dress. With the right accessories and or floral corsage perhaps, would look every inch the part of an elegant guest. I'd have been delighted if my guests had looked half as elegant!0

I think it's a very pretty dress and I wouldn't mind one bit if someone wore it to my wedding!
One of my friends is wearing a cream dress to my wedding - she showed it me before she bought it and I don't mind at all. People can wear what they like - I'd hate for my guests to buy something just for my wedding and never wear it again -seems like such a waste of money.
All I ask is that no one turn up in a wedding dress! :rotfl:

No problem with someone wearing black, but I would be very irritated if any of my guests turned up in white.
Loving the dress and the links and ways to get it down in price. Very MSE :money:Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
I think it's a lovely dress and it is a beatiful shape and fabric, not at all 'morbid' looking. Dressed up with some nice accessories and it will look lovely. I've been to weddings where guests wore black and it's no different really to wearing navy blue or dark brown, it's just a dark colour. Like any colour, if you wear it correctly it will look fabulous. The last wedding I was at there were some guests in black who looked very elegant and there were some guests wearing bright colours in the wrong way- some looked under dressed and one looked like she'd forgotten her skirt her dress was so short! I know what I'd rather see!
Well done on figuring out the best way to get the dress for a good price too! I think the comments about it being too expensive are rubbish, you wouldn't have considered the dress if price was an issue and everyone's views on what is acceptable to spend on a new outfit differ so if you can afford it, go for it. The closeness of the B&Gs in both weddings warrant some extra effort, it's not like its someone you barely know and if you're doing a reading you want to feel special, which I'm sure you will in that dress. You can't wear silk and not feel lovely!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Just speak to whom ever wedding it is your going to and see what they say! its ur best bet! its difficult as most men will be wearing black. and if there colour theme is brigt pink u might look like a bridesmaid or something.
i personally think £65 is very expencive for a dress no matter how many times you wear it! even without debt clearing.
but each to there own....
you asked opinions lol

Personally I would not be very happy if a guest wore either black or white to my wedding. I would not have a tantrum or anything but I would think it was quite inappropriate of them as white is the colour reserved for the bride and black is a funeral/mourning colour. But not everyone feels the same way.0

I personally could not have told you what anyone wore to my wedding! I can't see the problem in wearing black, so long as it is dressed up. I've got a lovely swarovski crystal belt that would look great with that if it's own belt were detachable!! Perhaps a little waistcoat over the top would lift it a little too! Also, in black you tend to fade into the background sometimes, so no way will anyone know what you wore! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
