Silvermaid....we did the earlybird programme when DS was diagnosed at 2 years old but he is 7 and a half now and new problems raise their head all the time. I dont think it helps that he has Tourettes, ADHD, Dyspraxia and APD to deal with too:cool:
He is seeing his consultnt this month and behavioural psychologist. We are very lucky that we live up the road from a centre for children with neuro disorders called Ryegate and they have autism specialist team there. God knows how people go on who have nothing nearby:eek:0 -
afternoon everyone
ds had another bad night so a very tired and grouchy me. unlike alan who is probably feeling very refreshed :mad: wont even go there but anyone who has me on fb got the drift of it this morninghe's now taking ds out and i have phoned him twice to make sure he is ok instead of having a sleep
my head is pounding and has been for a few days now
ds will be back at the drs in the morning. he keeps crying and pointing to his cheek and saying ouch. not sure if its his ear or teeth (4 back ones to still come through). so will get his ears and throat checked tomorrow anyway.
his stomach is still bad. everything is going through him within 20/30 mins of eating. he's on plain/dry food as wellhe's doing around 8/9 dirty nappies a day again
his eczema on his legs has flared up too. poor mite is really suffering at the minute
os wise (if i find some energy) i have a cauliflower to convert into cauliflower cheese for me. i need to think of some ideas for lunches for ds. he's fed up with sandwiches, pitta bread, crackers etc. he's not all that keen on soup either. can't wait for his paedtrician appointment to come through to get this all sorted out once and for all
need to do a general tidy and hoover. ds has suddenly taken a dislike to the hoover! everytime i switch it on he runs and hides and sits crying with his hands over his ears. its never been a problem until a couple of weeks ago :undecided
i need to move.... have a good day everyone"I have learnt that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one""You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”Maya Angelou0 -
Gers - I started reading Stuart McBride after peeps on here said they read his books. Wasn't sure of the first one until half way through and am now reading my 3rd. I'm from Aberdeen (near enough) and just love reading about streets etc that I know (and used to live near Mounthooly (sp??) roundabout and had a good laugh about the name as I'd forgotten about it). Also love reading the local accent and sayings. The one I'm reading at the moment speaks of the village Hatton of Fintray where my ex BIL and family used to live and we had loads of weekends there with all the kids when they were wee. Good memories.
Rainy here today. One load of DH work shirts to do then a mixed load.
DH off to the horse racing today so no Sunday dinner planned. I'm not going as it's a busy meeting and I don't like getting crushed! I'm going to a nice book reading instead.
Although I'm not from Aberdeen I like to read books set in Scotland. McBride is the Rankin of the north!wmf Stuart Macbride books are blooming brilliant .I am waiting for the next one to come out its due anyday I think He seems to have got it spot on for an ordinary plod, and shows so well how the police forces work with all of the internal polotics in the hiearchy. His hero is more of an anti hero, really but a hero none the less.We must think alike as I too count Bella Italia as a great place to eat
Dark Blood is out in paperback and I got mine yesterday in Sainsburys. I'm only on page 64 as I want it to last.Sounds like I will have to give Stuart McBride a wee go now. Is he a good read even if you're not a Scot? I'm always on the lookout for an author I haven't read before. I like crime/ thriller type novels. What type of stuff does he write? Might get a wee nosy in the library later if I have a chance.
Hi website is http://www.stuartmacbride.com/ and have a look at Amazon for a full list and reviews of his books.
Might go under the duvet again and read some more!0 -
Hi all, wild and windy here, woke in the night as an internal door slammed shut-DS2 had his window open.He and his GF have just gone out to some friends for HM pea and ham soup, made by the young man in the partnership-apparently he loves cooking :T
NPM - sorry you're having a bad time (((hugs)))
Not sure who is in for tea yet (haven't seen DS1 since his birthday night out on Friday, but not worried as he usually stays at friends over weekends anyway so will not count him in)Suppose it depends how much pea and ham soup is consumedThat being the case I think I will do prawns and pasta for just me and DH,and save the turkey joint until tomorrow. The Victoria sponge has nearly all gone now,so I might look in the Bero book for inspiration.
Have a nice Sunday all.xxx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -

The OH and i went to the pub and he got very drunk. I left early as he was with his mates and they brought him home at some point.
The WM is on it's 2nd cycle of the day. I need to tidy kitchen but not feeling too motivated right now.

Had to go away and check the order I've read them in - although the books refer to past events (or future ones if you're reading backwards) I don't think it matters. They are each self-contained.
Not for the faint-hearted though..... :eek:0 -
off to look at the Stuart McBride books on amazon now......all this talk has got me intriged...... I have a nagging feeling I might have read something of his a long long time ago but certainly nothing lately........0

Afternoon all
Well, OH left at 3.30 this morning to drive to Heathrow, ready to fly out at 9.30.
We didn't go to bed until 11, and I was up every hour to check on the river level which lept rising until 5am when it stopped raining. It's gone down now, but it's also started raining again, so we'll have to see what happens
I did snooze some after the rain had stopped, then took the doggos out for a short walk as everything in the immediate area is under water.
So far today, I've managed to sort out details to do with my voluntary work, started making french sticks, and got my work clothes ready (first day tomorrow ). I still need to fold the washed clothes which are upstairs, make tomorrow's lunch, polish my boots for tomorrow and do the car hokey cokey - 4 cars, 2 of which are for sale, and I need to get my new one out which is blocked in. I will say that dad owns one of the cars, and we've only got 3 because I picked my new car up yesterday.
I was going to make tangerine marmalade, but it takes up to 2 hours, and I'm really not in the mood. I'm in a bit of a funk as it's my first day as a mental health nurse tomorrow, and I feel like I'm not ready. The stupid thing is that it's a week long induction so I'll not be expected to actually do anything. I think I'm worried about the hour long drive (over the hills, then 3 motorways!) and feeling a bit sad that I have no-one to come home to, to tell all about it!
Sometimes, I can't believe that I'm the same person who packed a bag 2 days after finishing her last placement of the 2nd year, picked the dog up and drove to London to start my elective placement at Combat Stress
So, for the rest of the day I'll just be doing bits and trying to relax. My friend gave me the latest Charlaine Harris book for my birthday, and I'm halfway though it. I'm feeling guilty at not walking the dogs as well as normal too, but in reality, they'd have to swim if we went far. I think I need to take a deep breath, and try to relax.
Hope everyone is ok, and hugs to those who are feeling down and upset.
T xx0
