mix mash with an egg and some sweetcorn/bacon/other things you like, make little rounds and fry them.

Do it with cooked fish or tinned and you've made fishcakes!

    glad you got some ideas!

I love cooking and list hundreds of ideas for spuds (but won't bore you) though funnily enough we are more likely to have rice, noodles or pasta than spuds with our meals!

And here from the French corner: 'tartiflette'. Layer sliced cooked potatoes with fried onions and fried bacon bits in an oven dish. Top with cheese (brie is nice, but cheddar does fine too, actually most melty cheeses are suitable). Pour over some single cream, bake in oven. Delish and very calorific.

This thread reminds me of work visits to a North German town - it had a restaurant exclusively dedicated to potatoes! Used in starters, main courses and even puddings. I used to love eating there and marvel at their creativity.

Thanks champys, that sounds like a good one, might give that a try, anything calorific works for me :D

I made a Vegetable Bake today off the top of my head and DD pronounced it "gorgeous".

Boiled sliced small potatoes with skin on. In the steamer part of the pan , lightly cooked chopped carrot, parsnip, cauli (hanging about in the fridge), couple of bits of frozen brocoli and some green beans.
    Made a home-made cheese sauce.
Put veg in dish, topped with sliced spud, poured sauce on top with a bit of grated cheese and in the oven for a short time.
