you can make chips and wedges
cut your potatoes into chunks and then par boil them
in the mean time heat some veggie or sunflower oil in a roasting dish in the oven, at about 220 degrees, when the pre cut potatoes has par boiled and dried slightly, put it in your pre heated roasting dish..
yummy chips or wedges
Thanks Bellrooster....How much oil would I need to use? Can you tell I'm not much good at this cooking malarky? :rotfl:0 -
to make perfect wedges, cuy your potatoes lengthways into 6 or 8 wedges depending on size. then toss in oil, salt pepper, herbs and spices (oregano, paprika, chilli, thyme etc all good) place on baking tray with the skin down wedge pointing up! and roast gas 7-8 , 220c i think for bout 35 mins!
vary them with different flavours, some half lemons, garlic ,rosemary etc£5000 debt cleared thanks to MSE advice :money:0 -
i usually do mash with onions/sweet potato and freeze it in foil trays , just defrost and bake in the oven. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

you could make hash browns if you have an onion and an egg?
grate a couple of potatoes and onion. put in a teatowel. ring out as much moisture as you can. mix with a lightly beaten egg and add a good pinch of salt. shape into patties and fry in a little oil. What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -

That sounds nice actually, never made HM soup! But I'd need a blender to Puree & I don't have one!
If I bought a hand blender would that do the job?
You don't really need a blender unless you want your soup very smooth. It's ok to leave it chunky, or break it down a bit with a potato masher if needed.0 -

that's what I do. If you don't like oily hands put all the ingredients in a plastic sandwich bag and give them a good toss!
Spuds are fab as they freeze really well too do you have a freezer?
Easy spud dishes...
cube spuds, par boil for just a few minutes, then fry them off with bacon, onions, and/or any veg you like or stuff like spicy sausages (anything from salami to chorizo, even a peperami will work)!
Chicken Cumberland pie:
cook cubed/sliced/ chicken.
add cooked broccoli or mushrooms
add a creamy sauce... best (cheap) instant instant sauces: campbells condensed soups.
Great ones for this are mushroom, chicken, celery, or asparagus
top with mashed spuds (mash with butter and a dash of milk or cream if you like). Can finish it off with a bit of grated cheese in the oven/under the grill if you want (if feeling lazy don't even bother layering it all up just serve it on a plate and mix it up!
Corned beef hash:
fry onions, add corned beef (cubed, sliced or mushed up, however you like it) add cubed (cooked) spuds mix it up or add mash on top (can mix it up if you prefer). Top with cheese if you want, pop under the grill if you feel like it! Fab with baked beans.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -
my mum likes:
make mash
pop in a dish,
make a hole in centre
break egg into hole,
top with grated cheese
pop in medium oven till egg is cooked and cheese meltedA waist is a terrible thing to mind.0
