Banned users returning with new usernames are a bit of a problem on this board, and from what I have seen, on the other 'hidden' discussion boards such as Discussion Time and The Arms.
I've come up with a partial solution and was wondering, if anyone is interested, if people could spare the time popping on the thread and lending a bit of support to it (or critique it if they feel it wont work).
The thread is here in the MSE feedback board:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3031042
I know that if people are determinedly sad enough to keep creating usernames, there isnt much that can be done, but having to make several posts on other non-hidden boards (20/30/50?) before they can post on here/DT/Arms might just be too much of a hassle that they either stop doing it, or they modify their behaviour so they dont get banned so often and have to start all over again.
Anyway, just a thought. Please have a look and perhaps give the thread a 'bounce' if you have time.
Cheers.

That's actually a really good idea.
Having to make 100 posts elsewhere on the board before coming here would probably help a lot.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Great idea RM. Interesting how many lurkers emerged yesterday on the back of one House Price Index that showed a rise.0

What an excellent idea.
How easy is it to do IT wise? Not Again0 -
Totally in favour of this suggestion. The Ghouls thing has gotten completely out of hand with ostensibly just one person thanking himself repeatedly for posting inane twaddle.
Someone clearly has too much time on their hands! And it becomes tiresome, tedious and undermines the forum integrity... makes it boring.

It's a good idea but perhaps doesn't go far enough. Some way to inhibit the party political astroturfers would be equally helpful.0

And any day a fall in an index is announced the board turns into a theatre of the sockpuppets.
Doesn't matter which side of the debate you're on, they're equally annoying.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Probably best to direct the responses to the linked board. This thread will be closed anyway and the board linked to appears to be monitored.0

That's been going on here for years.
rewired being the classic example of a "thanks socky"“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Although I hadn't quite realised what a sockpuppet was till this thread... And I recall being accused of being one! [I'm not, btw - if someone checked the IP addresses of my posts they would have to be highly distinctive]
Edit: Funnily enough I've also been accused of being Rewired but I can only give my assurances I am anyone but Rewired! I've no idea who Rewired is.Long live the faces of t'wunty.0 -

Yesterday highlighted the fact to me.
Plenty of good posts recently on this forum concerning wider economic issues get little to no discussion.
Good debate is healthy. Irrespective of view. As in the middle there's compromise.0
