I think it would be hard to say it was "illegal" but it may not adhere to the terms and conditions of the offer.

If at least two people send me a PM I can compare the codes and let you know if they are unique rather than having to post them publicly and possibly invalidating any existing application (donning my board guide's hat I promise this is purely for research and as an existing Cap1 customer until just a few weeks ago I'm probably ineligible anyway :) )
  • I'll have a scout around at work when i get back from a weeks holiday. I work where we put leaflets in magazines. Its usually the sunday mags we do so let me know if any body gets one in a sunday supplement.

After a look through the magazines in Asda (North East so it isn't just a southern thing), I found 5 different capital one forms -
No 0 months 0% balance transfers, 6 months, 9 months, 15 months and 18 months.
Didn't bother picking up the first 2.

0% for 9 months on balance transfer is -
0% for 3 months on porchases, 14.9% APR, credit limit £25,000, no annual fee, miminum repayment 3% or £5 (whichever is greater),ref number on application form is 8533-315

0% for 15 months on balance transfer is -
No mention of 0% on porchases, 13.9% APR, credit limit £25,000, no annual fee, miminum repayment 3% or £5 (whichever is greater),ref number on application form is 8555-200

0% for 18 months on balance transfer is -
No mention of 0% on porchases, 13.9% APR, credit limit £25,000, no annual fee, miminum repayment 3% or £5 (whichever is greater),ref number on application form is 8555-250

Haven't been through any smaller print than that

  • I looked in Zest mag in WHSmiths at Liverpool Street station but they only have the offer for 9 months 0%.

ChrisCar - which magazines did you try?
    Bank Charges Claimed: 180

    Debenhams card: 600 now paid
    Littlewoods: 100 now paid

The numbers above are not Capital One invitation codes, I don't know what they are but invitation codes are supposed to appear in mailings, maybe leaflets simply don't have them?

The numbers are on the top of the application forms, it says -
CapitalOne what's in your wallet? Then a white box with those numbers in it, underneath in smaller figures, (no box) is SF000650 on the 15 month and 18 month ones, SF000764 on the 9 month one.
Can't see any other ref numbers

    As to which mags -
    One was on the floor
    Top Sante was one
Sorry, can't remember the others, I only looked through the health/slimming/beauty type mags, they were the first I came to

  • I have received my Zest Subscription mag for April this morning and the 18 month leaflet was in it - hope this helps !
  • I've just heard that the Capital One leaflet for a long 0% on transfers and purchases can be found in the latest copy of the Readers Digest.

    I'm off to Smiths now........

    Happy hunting.

I must be a bit of a dummy as I tried to use the CapitalOne website and couldn't find anywhere in any of the applications a place to enter either of the codes.

Oh well will just have to spend some money and actually go out to look through the mag racks at Morrisons for the leaflet myself!

    cheers

You reckon one of these offers would be 'out of bounds' to anyone who already has a CapOne card, then? (Especially one who's still getting 1% cashback on it...!)
Expect the worst & hope for the best...
