Tucan Claims

Hi Guys, I'm hoping someone can help.
My Mum and Dad who are an elderly couple in their late 60s have been cold called by Tucan regarding misold PPI on their Mortgage.
They paid the £250 fee and today my Dad received a call from Tucan looking for the CVC code from his debit card, they advised that they needed this to send him his cheque. He thankfully didn't have the debit card to give them this info.
They point blank refused to issue the cheque without this information.
I until this point wasn't aware they'd been involved with this company and am concerned that having paid the £250 fee they're now in to deep to back out.
I've looked on the Tucan website which mentions implications of solicitors costs etc should they try and pursue a claim with anyone else or speak with their bank/FSA without consulting Tucan. I would normally ring the FOS / FSA but don't want to predjudice my parents position and also judging by the previous comments on this thread doubt I'd get very far from ringing the company directly.
Does anyone know if someone has managed to claim successfully via Tucan or any suggestions as to what I could do to safetly push my Dad's claim through. I'm absolutely ademant that he doesn't give them the CVC code.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!0 -
As a former employee of tucan they shouldnt be asking for the security after they have paid the £250 the process should work like this:
1) call + payment
2) Verification call from a 'manager' (term used loosely there)
3) Welcome pack and two forms to sign and return
4) 14 days later they contact you with an outcome and post the cheque.
As i said above once the payment is taken no further payment details are needed. And as for getting solicitors involved if you go elsewhere is crap, not once during training were we told this, Jamie ryan has clearly said if people go elsewhere the agreement with Tucan is cancelled and you loose your £250. Ringing might get you somewhere if you ask for Jamie Ryan, Mel Phillips or his daughter as they all 'run' the show there. If i still had all my old training documents i would scan and show everyone how they train people and the methods they use to con people.0 -
I received a call today from Tucan Claims on my landline. The Welsh girl on the other end came across as very bright and bubbly. She said her name was Laura Gooding. First of all she said that I should have received a letter from them in a bright orange envelope last week. When I said I hadn't, TBH if it's crap from a company like hers it would have been binned instantly, she said that she had a cheque for at least £1600 to send me and needed me to confirm my details. She said that this payment was due to the success of a recent massive court case brought against lots of banks regarding them raising your credit card limit without your permission. She then went on to say that the solicitors dealing with this had appointed Tucan Claims as their agent to contact all the claimants to ensure that they were paid out by Xmas. I asked her how she had got my details and she said that the banks had to provide customers details as part of the court case.
I asked her to repeat who she was and she immediately gave me her direct line: 08449796333, Customer Care: 08447742668, a claim reference number and her email address: laura.gooding@tucanclaims.co.uk. As the conversation wore on she also gave me the company address as 160 Aztec, Aztec Business PArk, Bristol, BS32 4UB.
She said that Tucan's costs came from the back end (10%) and were deducted from any payment, which was further enhanced by 8% interest backdated, so I would receive a payout of 98%. She said the average payout was £2500, and how handy that would be for Xmas. Yes indeed!
Then the good part started. Did I have my credit card handy? I asked why she needed this and she advised it was so she could verify it for the purpose of the claim. So I asked which card she wanted as I had several. She then said it would be a Mastercard, which I do have. She said she just needed the long number. I asked why, since she already had all my details, did I have to give her my card number. She said that, wait for it, that they kept the minimum information necessary due to data protection. PMSL!!
I told her I was not prepared to give out my card number to someone who had just called me up and whom I knew nothing about. She protested, saying that she had given me all her phone details. I said that she could just have given me a load of numbers, that I didn't know that these were valid or who they were for, and she could just take my card number and use it. She insisted that she was above board and told me she would hang up, stay off the phone and I could call her on her direct number. She then hung up.
Aye right! I had no intention of calling her back. Luckily I have a smartphone and immediately used it to google her company. I could see from the results that it was being branded a scam and being a MSE member went straight on to this topic. I just started to read about the £250 charge when the phone rang. Yes, you've guessed it, it was my new friend Laura. I told her that I was just reading on MSE that her company was involved in a scam and wanted a payment up front, that she had failed to mention. She then stated that any deposit would be refunded and as soon as I pulled her up on this she said any costs would be refunded. I ended the call by telling her to send me the letter again so that I had something in black and white as there was no way I would be giving her my card number. Bye bye Laura, have a nice day trying to catch some other poor sucker. No luck this time.
I can appreciate that many vulnerable and desperate people will be taken in by this scam, so will be making sure I tell all my friends about it. I'll also post on Facebook and Watchdog sites.0 -

Also report them to John Mann MP http://www.johnmannmp.com/contact_me
He may not be your MP but seeing as he has called them a scam company, then further evidence is what is needed to action taken.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Saying they have a cheque to send out with an amount is new, I only left 3 weeks ago and we weren't doing that then. Still I'm not surprised when it comes to them0

I've just been called from 0845 0044204, twice, from two different people both from 'Tucan Claims'. They both referred to me as a completely different person, to which I simply said it was me. They then asked if I had a credit card, I said no, and then do I have a loan, which I said no too. At this point, they just hung up.

Tucan's website is down at the moment as well. May be coincidence but is it a sign that they are closing their doors? Maybe doing a Cartel and leaving all those that paid money up front in the lurch?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
