Hi, I've just been called by Tucan Claims- I pretty much knew straight away that it was a scam, since this sort of thing has happened to me a few times. Luckily though, I've never been duped. However, I can understand how desperate people are fooled- I very nearly was a few years ago. My rule of thumb is this- if it sounds too good to be true, it most certainly is.
To be honest, when Tucan Claims called me, I listened to all they had to say and asked them lots of questions (which they clearly struggled to answer satisfactorily), even though I knew it was BS. It just shocks/amuses me to listen to them delivering this rubbish, and saddens me how they are allowed to do so.
The fact is, people, if you've borrowed money- YOU HAVE TO PAY IT BACK! I'm sorry, but it's the hard truth (obviously there are some exceptions where banks/credit card companies are liable- we actually received £8000 mis-sold PPI compensation from our credit card company. The difference is WE SOUGHT OUT THE COMPANY TO DO THIS ON OUR BEHALF (and you can do it yourself) WE WERE NOT COLD CALLED.)
Do your research if you're not sure if something's legit or not. I googled 'Toucan Claims' as soon as I got off the 'phone- I didn't have to even click on the pages of hits so see immediately what I already knew- IT'S A CON!
If you're in financial difficulties, go to a financial advisor or citizens advice in the first instance. Best wishes, everyone!0 -
Whilst trying to read up on and learn how to deal with my mother's illness which could be early Stage of Alzheimer's, (still awaiting medical proof) whilst I was out she gave her bank account details to TUCAN over the phone. The instant she told me of this I called them, told them I deal with my mothers matters, told them why! I told them to take anything regarding my mother off their records as she was not in a fit state of mind to make decisions right now. They agreed but told me I would probably get a letter to pay £250 as it was already dispatched, which I was to ignore. I found out today they have taken this amount out of her bank account. She has been in an awful state. I feel awful as she had said to me to call them when the letter of invoice had arrived by post but I told her not to worry that Tucan had told me this would happen and we were to ignore it...Surely there must be something I can do about this?...They have taken the money on friday late in the day, you cannot speak to them regarding this until monday when they reopen for business(clevvvvvvvvverrrrr).0

I have just been cold called by Tucan Claims on my business line. Ignoring the fact it is TPS, the phone was answered with the company name (which includes financial services) I was told a bunch of lies, such as the selling of insurance being banned (which it isnt) and that I could claim my money back just by having it (which is not correct) and that I could still claim the money back even though I set up my own insurances (which is just stupid)
I know John Mann MP has stated on his website that they are a scam company but having just had the experience of the cold call with them, I would suggest everyone avoids this disgraceful company.

Ignoring the fact it is TPS
That is a breach of Client Specific Rule 4 of the MOJ's Conduct of Authorised Persons Rules and should therefore be reported to the MOJ, methinks.0 -
I've been 'phoned repetitively - twice on Friday, 5 times on Monday & twice Tuesday - DESPITE being registered with the TPS and not giving them an inch - in the end I've had to resort to just putting the phone down on them, as soon as I've ascertained it's "Tucan" (some of the Indian sounding operators insist it's "Toucan").
I didn't enter into details, I could tell where the 1st call was headed when he started on the PPI route (which I've never had), but he then went for the "Increase in credit limit" hook - I told him it was rubbish, but have been called back by callers from India & England/Wales - yet have told them over (and over) - that I'd rather let the banks have the money!
They just won't seem to let go! :mad:0 -
You could always send a letter to Tucan Claims Limited, 10-12 Dunraven Place, Bridgend, CF31 1JD giving your terms of business. Charge of £1,000 per call, next call will be deemed to be acceptance of those terms.
Don't forget to obtain proof of posting!0 -
Hey all *waves* new here and i just like to say i was a former employee of
tucan claims, after the two weeks of training and a day on the phone i made it my priority to find a new job.
I couldnt in good conscience stay there knowing they were scamming people. So i thought i would come here and share some interesting facts about them.
They offer cash incentives if you swindle someone, e.g 5 'sales' = £50 10 'sales' = £100 and so forth plus bonus in your salary, the system they use is VOIP and somehow it uses your own phone line to dial you...odd i know but thats what we were told, on certain calls you can actually listen to peoples voicemail and private messages.
All in all this is one hell of a dodgy company and i am glad im out now and i have never been happier, and word of advice they dont always use their own names quite alot of them use fake names when talking to people which wont do you any good if you report them.
I have passed all this information plus a hell of alot more onto the MoJ to see if they wanted to do anything about it.
In short stay away, do not talk to them, never give card details and most importantly tell everyone you know about this.0 -

That would be a scandal on the scale of the News of the World.0 -

It may be worth sending it to John Mann MP as well. He has declared them a scam company.
