Real life MMD: Should I pay extra for Sky?

Totally agree with other posters - split the money between the 3 of you. Why should you benefit for them paying?
Also, you can only have 1 xbox registered per account, so if one of the others got an xbox they wouldn't be able to use a service they have paid for.
My BIL actually came to my hubby and me and asked the same question. He lives at home with his parents and gets a decent wage, we have our own home and class Sky as our luxury. He wanted us to give him our details and passwords so he could access our account on his xbox. Hubby asked if he would consider making a small contribution (like a couple of quid, no more) to which he said no, so hubby registered his xbox instead! When life gives you lemons make lemonade. When life gives you chocolate......eat it! :rotfl:0 -
I saw this in the weekly MSE e-mail, and thought I should point out that you don't have to be a multi-room subscriber to get the sky player on xbox live. The reason I know this is the case is because I am not a multi-room subsciber but have no problem getting it on my xbox. When it first launched, you had to have multi-room, but this changed after a couple of months, presumably after a bit of a backlash.
If this is true then you don't have to pay. Simple.0 -
Not to be funny, but every post I see on this forum is misinformed.
First, you don't need to have multiroom or sky broadband to access sky player on the Xbox - I speak from experience. I have one sky box and bt broadband and I regularly use sky player on the xbox.
Second, the xbox only entitles you to watch sky player, which consists of a few live channels and then all of the on demand programmes. This is nowhere near to the full range of channels available on sky, so no way should you pay a third!
Finally, if you have sky in the house, sky player has always been free to watch on a PC where you can access all of the same as you can on the xbox. This is available to your housemates as well! The fact you can get it on the xbox does not mean that you should pay more.0 -
I suppose because it wasnt actually your decision to buy the multi room & I assume you werent asked/ involved in the decision making process you shouldnt pay anything.0

Take into consideration the bandwidth you'll be using, if you choose to watch SKY on your Xbox.
- Do other people download?
- Do they game and require a low bandwidth?
- Have you enough bandwidth to go around?
- Do you have a cap on your bandwidth?
- Is it throttled if you go over a certain amount, within a certain amount of time?0 -
Could do with a bit more information, but really if it would be cheaper for you to just pay for Sky on your Xbox and not contribute to multi-room plus having Sky in the living room then stop contributing to having sky in the living room and just get it yourself.
On the other hand, why do you need it in your room? If you want to watch something and they want to watch something else, send them off to their rooms and you can stick in the living room -.-0 -
Never ever do anything that would assist R Murdoch in any way.
(Just a matter of principle)

Nice. I'm glad I never had housemates like you.0 -
Im confused by this one? How much more would you have to pay?
Can't you just split the bill between the 3 of you so everyone pays the same.0 -
No, you don't have to have multi room to use sky player on the xbox. I know because i use it on mine, and i do not have multi room. I dare say you also have a laptop, in which case you could also watch it on there.0
