Physio today wasn't great, she basically gave me the same rubbish sheet of exercises that the GP gave me and said they didn't work because im not doing them properly.

I asked about giving birth as i cant open my legs to wide and she didn't answer.

Im to get a gym ball and lean on that against the wall instead of sitting, im not to go out for walks alot and i have to try and avoid housework...

I cant have a support belt as she doesn't think it will help.

    She was slightly competitive aswell..

Physio "How much did Lily weigh?"
    Me "9lbs 11ozs"
    Physio "My baby was 11lbs.."

I asked about my painkillers as my GP said to take 2 tablets 4 times a day. My MW said to only take them if i really feel i need to.
And now she has said im to take 2 at night, 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon.

I dont know what to do, i dont like taking to much because of the baby :(

Sorry your physio didn't go well hun :( I am really hoping mine helps me on the 15th, dunno what I'll do otherwise :(

!!!!!! does it matter how big her baby was? :rotfl: And getting out of bed and walking round to the other side to change sides? What a weirdo!

I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

    I'm here :p

Sorry I've been AWOL ladies - have had a funny three weeks and haven't been in a very good frame of mind I didn't want to bring anyone down on the thread. Plus as I was wrapping up at work I was so busy that I just didn't get much chanced to get on.

I've also been diagnosed with SPD and have been trying to get my head around that. Have been feeling a little down in the dumps (as well as being in pain quite a lot of the time) just rather fed up that I got this far (to 34 weeks) and now this has come along :o From the waist up and the thigh down I feel absolutely fine and dandy - everyone keeps telling me how well I look too. It's just annoying that someone seems to replaced my pelvis with that of a raggy doll :(

I gave myself a bit of a pep talk though and after a session of Reflexology on Saturday tailored to hopefully help ease the symptoms of the SPD and my appointment for physio coming through am feeling much more positive now :)

I can't believe I've missed so many births :( I hope all the new mummies and babies are doing well.

I've finished work and am on maternity now so am going to make sure I keep up with all the goings on a bit more now I have more time :)

Hope mums and bumps are all happy and healthy this evening hug-2583.gif

Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well FS :( I sympathise with SPD. It has made me very down that I can't go out for walks, and have to keep every day walking to a minimum otherwise I'm in agony.
Fingers crossed for the physio x

I read that going on all fours is better for SPD sufferers.

I felt awkward saying "I cant open my legs" :o

I said that last time i was made to give birth on my back because i wasn't pushing properly on all fours, and she said "Well your body might know what to do this time"

I was nothing but polite to her aswell :rotfl:
  • Don't let them make you do anything this time, just do what you want. All fours works fine, gravity is your friend!

EA I am planning on trying for all fours so I don't run any risk of doing any permanent damage by forcing my legs too far apart. Am sorry that your physio appointment wasn't as successful as you'd hoped it would be :(

My physio appointment is a group one. I'm going on 17th - I have to fill in a questionnaire which has different activities (walking 300 - 400m, walking up a flight of stairs, bending over, turning in bed etc) and I have to score each one on a level of easy to impossible (1 - 5) I suppose from that they make an assessment. My letter says I can also book a 1:1 appointment after the session if I want to.

Have you considered trying Reflexology? last week I was in absolute agony and could hardly walk. I had a session of Reflexology on Saturday and it really does seem to have helped ease the pain quite a lot - I'm going again on Friday and will go once a week till the end now. It's expensive but to be honest I will pay it if it eases the pain and allows me to get on with stuff a bit more easily.

It sounds as if there is a few of us who are suffering with the same thing at the moment. I never realised just how painful it was before - obviously I'd read people talking about it but stupidly thought maybe it wasn't actually that bad.

GFH hurrah for starting maternity leave - is that when you break up for half term? Officially mine doesn't start till next week as I'm actually on holiday this week because I had to use my remaining days up. I was considering working till half term but decided against it in the end :)

  • Fairy yes I'm struggling on until half term...bit gutted as the course I was going on has been messed about so that I would have to do the second part when baby 8 weeks old, which isn't happening. But it does make for a more restful time, and save on puppy sitting costs.
