That's correct - they cannot use pregnancy-related sickness against you. My GP specifically wrote 'pregnancy complications' on my sick note to avoid confusion

Thats what I thought? My sicknote was specific as to say vomiting in pregnancy. The think that makes me mad is if they put me on this 'stage one review' it runs for 12 months from the date of the meeting rather than your last date of sickness which was 6th march  the system works where you go on stage 1, 2 then 3 depending how many times you are off or for how long when you get to stage 3 you can be sacked after going to occupational health etc i'm probably not gonna get to stage 3 but its not the point, who knows what will happen I could be off sick again due to something pregnancy related then when I go back to work next april I could be off again ie break my leg or something, at which point I would be pushing up to the stage 3 stage :(

Why do work have to make everything soooooo stressful! also when did everyone have a risk assesment done? I havent had one yet

    Afternoon bumpy ladies

Congrats to Zebusi and vibes to the boldies.

I am currently 23rd on the list but after I see the consultant on the 25th May I may jump up as high as 15th! :o - will have to wait and see - starting to get excited now!

On the subject of pelvic floor exercises I am ashamed to say I hardly did any with previous pregnancies and it is a simillar story with this one - however I've not experienced any problems with sneezing and the like yet so touching wood on that one! :o

I would question it with HR - ask them why you are having pregnancy related sickness counted, see what they say.

I had my risk assessment done at about 10 weeks pregnant. They have to do one by law as soon as they are notified you are pregnant.

Work make everything stressful - I've had to fight and fight to get my wages right and my holidays right :o

Thanks I will speak to HR wont have time before the meeting which is 9am tomorrow but i'm deffo not going to sign anything in this meeting because I dont agree with it.

As for my risk assesment I'm 20 weeks tomorrow and I do a manual job and have not had one yet, i'm meant to be on my feet for 6 hours without a break (we are not allowed a break or allowed to sit down during this time! we are allowed a drink but only if we stand up :o ) anyways i have been ignoring this rule and having a sit down with a drink whenever I feel the need to, i'm just waitng for someone to catch me sat down and say something because they'll be getting a mouth full if they dare :rotfl:

You could also bring a print out about discrimination in pregnancy and how you could sue them sooo much :)

I would make it the first thing you say in the morning then when you walk into the meeting. Have you a colleague you could take with you? I would also be asking when you can expect your risk assessment to be carried out. Definitely follow it all up with HR though.

Just a quickie to say I've posted my birth story http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=43373018&postcount=195

It's a fairly positive story for anyone who's worried. I'll try and post a pic of Isla but they never seem to work.
I havnt had time to read back, labour vibes to Digitalphase and other boldies.

Good luck. I would just walk in there in the morning and say "before we start can I just ask why I am being asked to attend a meeting on sickness levels, which has been triggered by pregnancy related sickness? It's just that according to law, pregnancy related sickness cannot be used for this purpose" That might make them rethink!

If you want to read up on what is what to prepare yourself, this is a great place to start http://www.businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/action/layer?topicId=1080898065

Pregnancy–related sickness should be recorded separately from other kinds of illness. You should not count pregnancy-related sickness towards an employee’s total sickness record. You should not use pregnancy-related sickness absence as a reason for disciplinary action or when selecting for redundancy or for any other detrimental purpose.

Nic, That sounds like a great birth story. I hope mine goes as well as that!
