Congrats zebusi!! BBM glad baby alfred is doing well :)

I'm suffering a bit today lower back is aching, stomach is aching (and very windy!) and feeling really tired :( but on the plus side DS is off school for the voting so enjoying spending the day with him, even if all he wants to do is watch dvd's lol, and dont need to leave the house until tea time to pick up OH :)

Scan is tomorrow at 11.30! i'm excited and nervous all at the same time.

Just a quick question, I was under the impression if you are off work sick because of a pregnancy related illness that it is excluded from your normal sickness absence so cant be used against you? I ask because i got a letter to go to a stage 1 sickness review meeting tomorrow morning, they say these are not disaplinary meetings but I have had a stage 2 sickness review in the past (which is now cleared from my record) which I was read a formal statement saying my job was at risk if my sickness record wasnt improved?? any advice appreciated :)

    xx

  • I had my first appointment today & was given all the stuff needed to check my blood sugar levels which I need to do 4 times a day.

I missed the 1st reading as it needs to be done first thing in the morning before you have eaten & the 2nd one was ok at 7.7 (needs to below 7.8) an hour after eating an apple for breakfast.

The 3rd one however was 11.6 (well over the 7.8 :o) an hour after eating a bowl of Branflakes (no sugar & semi skimmed milk).

If I get 3 high readings in a row I have to phone the clinic so they can arrange a prescription for medication.

If the meds don't lower it either than i'll have to start on Insulin.

I'm slightly nervous how high the 4th will be after i've eaten a proper meal tonight even though i'm trying to be healthy & having chicken & rice.

I've got my growth scan Wednesday & my proper appointment at the Diabetes Clinic Thursday where i'll see a Dietician etc.
I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

    I'm jealous. :o

I'm still hungry after my Branflakes & apple but don't dare eat anything else. :(

That's correct - they cannot use pregnancy-related sickness against you. My GP specifically wrote 'pregnancy complications' on my sick note to avoid confusion

I really really wanted some pringles so I had some and now I feel very sick.

Not good since I have to go out to pick up the older 3, do the shopping I still haven't done and go do my vote

    I'm 10th

Congrats to all the new mummies. I've been too tired to do much more than read what's been happening lately.

BBM - Glad Alfred is doing well, been thinking about you both - you were due the day after me.

Well it's my (36 week) placenta scan on Monday so will see what's happening then. This will be my 12th (!) and hopefully final scan, have got all her pics right from 6+5, lovely to see the way she's developed. Even if I don't need a section I'm not convinced I'll make it to my due date. Having lots of pains and BH's and I lost my plug last week (I know it can reform, but still). Either way we're ready for her. Nursery is done (although she'll be in with us to start with), pram is here and everything is washed.

I'm going off food a bit which is worrying (well it is for me ;)). But I'm going to go and see if I can find something to tempt me.
 Mummy to an amazing little girl

Abby that sounds like a fab essay! :D. However 1500 words is a bit of cruel word count as it will massively restrict the depth of your topic :o

Exactly! I have nearly finished my essay on gender expectations in the Bildungsroman genre, word count is 2000. I have written 2183 AND thats just my theory! I've got at least another 1000 of quotes and indepth textual analysis to stick in there.

I've emailed that particular tutor saying if he marks me down for writing a brilliant essay I will hunt him down and smack him over the head with Great Expectations.

Luckily he understands my humour. Threat still stands.....

Then just need to get this shakespeare one done, its really hard to write about a topic you aren't interested in, and then really hard to write about something you are! I think we should just have "1500 minimum" for every piece of work we do. Surely those who are of perhaps a higher academic and intellectual level are going to write more anyway because they can see the different layers and explore the different interpretations. I have a friend whos probably going to come out with a 3rd class degree and she struggles to make the word count but thats just the way it is. I might be spouting complete BS saying that though. I don't see myself as particulary intelligent, just good at writing about what I like. If its something I detest I only just make the word count.

I have an exam on Monday, however I am going to struggle to sit down for 3 hours so am going in in a a bit to ask if they might let me write it in essay format and hand it in, I already have the exam question (seen)
