Its not like im not eating , I havent stopped and I didnt get any morning sickness, having been eating like a horse since I was 8weeks.Anyhoo rant alert, all of you guys know how bad my MIL is ,well she is self employed but worked the same contract every year for the past ten years, now it looks like she might not get it after April and shes now moaning about having no money ( meanwhile OH's been paid off three times in two years and we have the baby to buy for) anyhoo remember I said that she had destroyed grandsons nursery (gave away everything , even spare bibs) and has had it all decorated in thomas the tank , including mural (sp) Well OH went up last night to see her and help build up the new furniture and when he came home he came clean that he had felt bad about his mums job and that decorating grandsons room had left her skint , so he had paid for the remaining balance of the furniture and mural bill :mad: Im glad he told me , and he was disgusted that they are wasting money they dont have but he hates people being skint. Anyhoo rant over. Hows everyone today ?

  • Sorry dusty I quoted it and have popped it on the EDD list so it is always close to hand :D It is a very comprehensive list which is why so many people have used it as a basis for their own. :D

Well ladies, week 1 on Parentcraft is done and dusted. I was under strict instruction from OH not to draw attention to ourselves or to volunteer for any demonstrations :).
It was quite fun actually, I thought we'd be the oldest ones there but everyone else was of a similar age. We learnt 'how to know your in labour'. OH was brilliant and seemed really interested, what he's like at crunch time is a different story though.

So then I went to bed and had THE freakiest dream......

My waters went so we went into hospital where they put me on a drip to induce me, after 3 DAYS OF PUSHING the baby was still not moving so OH went to work (!) and they wheeled me in for a c-section.
We had a little girl (I'm convinced we're having a boy) and they stitched me up and waved me off that night. We dropped our newborn daughter at the MILs and me and OH went to the local pub where his nephew and his girlfriend were singing Savage Garden songs on the karioke!
Then I woke up in our bed, OH was asleep in the bathroom and our daughter was at the end of our bed in a moses basket. Except she was an alien like in that new alien film Paul.

So this weird dream woke me up at 4am and I've been awake ever since, I was going to post Tickle but once I start I cannot stop and I was convinced I would drop back off. Now worries about the list, I posted it before reading the full thread.
Can't wait to get home tonight and get curled up on the sofa. Supposed to be at a 30th tonight but have text her to say I can't make it..........

Lablover - your MIL sounds like a horror and how cheeky of her to accept the money.

I'm still about, mostly lurking. Still got a huge bruise on my hand, stupid hospital
My wrist was sore for a month and for quite a while you could see bruising along the vein. I actually spoke to my GP about it after a couple of weeks (because I'd never had any bruising, swelling or pain after a drip before) and he said it's fairly common and not something to worry about.

They don't usually monitor your weight so unless you mention it I doubt they would notice. I believe weight gain is not considered to be useful as an indicator of possible problems anyway (which is why it's no longer routinely monitored).

  • Oooo nice new shiny thread!!! :D

I had the fundal measurements done yesterday. I'm 27 weeks and measured 23 cms. She never said anything about it so I doubt she is worried but I guess i'll find out more on Monday. Baby is marked on the higher centile on the graph so I guess it is ok?! Weird!

Anyhow... Monday I have a hectic day:

    8.55 DD to school
9.30 up to ward at hospital for bloods to be taken
    Then down to have scan
Back up to ward for glucose drink
    Back down for clinics
Back up to ward for more bloods for GTT

They had better remember to take extra blood for the 28 week test cos I ain't going back next week for them to take more! Berluddy nightmare it'll be. I've then got to come back and work my hours up. Great!

On the bright side... I should be able to sleep that night! Since getting this pillow - it's not helped with the back ache at all... but it is sooooo comfy to sleep on! If no one has one and is looking for one I highly recommend it. I got this one in burgandy:

People keep saying that Susan ( that my weight wont be monitored) but Ive been weighed at every appointment , and its been written in my notes ( ive had double the amount of recommended appointments due to my fertility problems) and they also have been measuring my tummy. Altho at the last appointment the midwife said my measurements were fine. Im just worrying about nothing , lol In the next few weeks I will be on here moaning that Ive put on a stone and ive got a massive bump.:D

I've read that - but I've also read that if you gain too little weight or too much it can be bad for baby - conflicting info?!

I'm at week 19 now and have gained about 6lb on the scales so far (though have a huge bump so would have expected more) having said that I did lose a bit in the first trimester so perhaps that's why.

With my first pregnancy I ate what I fancied and ended up putting on 2 and a half stone - while DS was 8lb 3 of it I found that the excess weight took about 8 months to loose which didn't help my PND any :(

I am eating sensibly and healthily this time and trying to avoid eating the junk food and chocolate temptations so hopefully baby will be a good weight and I won't have quite so much to lose after the birth - that's the plan anyway, lol :o

Thanks again for today ladies feel better for off loading. Giz I'm pleased all ok with baby, hope you sleep well tonight now your mind at ease x
I had the worst night sleep I've had so far!! I was soooo tired, so had a short bath and was in bed by 9:30pm and out like a light, but woke up at 11:30pm. I woke up feeling like this was it, but must have been BHs as I got up to go to loo and they stopped. But it kept me on edge the whole night, so hardly slept a wink.

also how much variation from target is ok with fundal height? i measured mine and it's only 22cm, is this small enough to be concerned about? have the MW on weds so hopefully that'll reassure me!!
It's probably a bit early to be measuring. But do you not have a chart in your maternity book? In mine there is a chart (although the midwife hasn't bothered plotting like I hear others do). You can see the top and bottom percentiles to see if you fall in average. Also I learnt yesterday from the doctor how it's measured. I always thought it was the top of the uterus in the middle to the pelvic bone. But if the baby is laying awkward apparently they take a diagonal measurement from the highest point. Probably not explaining myself. She also showed me the exact point they measure to on the pelvis, it's a bit where it sort of hurts to press on.

My rabbit is still not good :( She still hasn't eaten anything on her own. Her litter tray is very dry (usually soaked through after one night) and no signs of poos, unless she's not been pooing in her tray. I only got given 2 days of syringe food, so will have to go back to the vet tomorrow I think. So will bring up my concerns. I did witness her drink and her snotty nose isn't as bad - so hopefully the jabs helped there a bit. It's not helping being 40 weeks preggers. I can't chase after her to pick her up for feeding :( She's getting harder and harder to pin down as she knows what's coming, bless her.
