Still not certain on the baby shower so not getting hopes up.

I just said that we didn't want go buy it in dec as felt it was too early and price could go down even more but girl in shop said if it did they'd refund the difference. She did say that. Guy on phone wasn't sure but you have 30 days from date gurantee starts to change your mind anywat and as guarantee hadn't started yet (starts day bubs is born) he refunded it.

If they're not playing ball just say you'll return it to store for money back and then re-buy at new lower price.
  • Where is everyone tonight???!!! Hopefully everyone is ok! I've had a very lazy day-wanted to sort out the junk that has been accumulating in the 'spare/baby's room but just couldn't find any ooomph lol Maybe tomorrow lol
I will be heading to bed soon where i will hopefully have an uninterrupted night! i did last night-even ds 2 slept in until 7.45!!!!

Its pretty quiet in here tonight, hope everyone is having a good night.

I got a letter today cancelling my scan date and giving me an appointment for the day after. An extra day to wait to find out what is in there :( like the 3 weeks since 20 week scan isnt long enough :D
I am absolutely dying to know what we are having, its ridiculous! Cant look at clothes because I want to know what we are having so not much point looking yet anyway! Theres not a lot out there in neutral lol.
Had a look in Mothercare today at some prams. Not a lot in there though. The Spin looked nice but Husband thought it didnt look very sturdy. The problem we have is it needs to be easy to fold down on my own as I might want to go out on the bus and sometimes we have the old style bus where you cant just wheel the pram on so would have to fold it down. I was looking at the Silvercross 3d before I came to this conclusion lol now Im unsure what to do! And they are so expensive! Im glad Im not paying for it in a sense lol, my lovely gran is going to since we would have got 2nd hand and she says we need new so she is paying! They are the price of a car :o and I worry we get the wrong one and its so much money wasted! And breathe.. :rotfl:

Madness I still have to sort out the junk room too! It just seems such a big job. I was in there 2 and half hours last week and it doesnt look much better lol. Where is the clearing fairy when you need her :D

  • Hi,
Dont know where abouts you are, but we went to bristol last week and they have a mamas and papas a few shops down from a big mothercare, and we were looking at the prams etc (not that we need one, just like to look) and i have to say i would not get the spin as it does look really flimsy-in the shop just gently give them a 'shake' on the handle and the amount of movement in all the parts and thats without a baby in it! I saw a lady pushing one the other day with a teeny baby in, and the seat unit and handle were wobbling all over the place! i know from having my previous 2 that I wouldn't get on with that!! then we looked in mamas and papas and the quality is a million times better, and they look and feel a lot sturdier. From what i've read the 'sola' fits quite well in smaller boots (this is on my wish list, but dont think I can convince dh that we NEED it lol-although he has hopefully, sold his 'spare' car so maybe i will drop some very big hints lol)
And i hated waiting for my scans lol I had to have a repeat 20 week one as bubs was lying funny lol and i had to wait 3 weeks!!!! It was the longest 3 weeks-although still not long enough to try and get hubby to realise the importance of knowing the flavour lol.........hmmmmm.....perhaps i could use that to bargain for the pram???!!! lol:D:D:D

Aww you know what its like for me to wait then lol. We had the 20 week and the baby curled up so they couldnt get all the measurements or see what it is, such a tinker! And have to wait 3 weeks too. It sucks! lol

I had to have a second scan for 20 weeks with Squeaak she was curled up relly tight in my pelvis and they couldn't see her spine properly.

The spin is a pile of rubbish.. when we were looking at pushchair last summer the guy in the shop said don't get one they are rubbish.

Though I am shopping for a twin (newborn and 13 months) so any recommendations are welcome :D I can't push a tandem, the Bill and Teds is disgusting .. who in their right mind puts a baby in the shopping basket? Or a toddler where they can't see a thing and can touch the wheels?! .. and they can, because I've seen it happen! I want a twin pliko.. but they don't make them... :( and it has to be a high handle as OH is 6ft 4.

Supermaiden - I've got the Silvercross 3d and it is a really sturdy pram, plus you will be able to use it for a good couple of years. It is a wee bit bulky however and if you are having to fold it when bubs is a newborn you would have to take the basket bit down to fold it, so if you were going to use the bus on a regular basis I wouldnt suggest it, but otherwise it really is worth the money, in my opinion anyways :D HTH

I plan on using reusables from when the baby is about 10lbs. I might still use the odd dissposable one out and about but Im looking to save as much money as poss.

Im using a mix to see how I get on. I decided not to go for a big kit incase I didnt like them. If I feel I like some more than other then ill buy more when bubs is here.

Im using terry squares mainly but have bought a few Little lamb ones and a few motherease ones and a tots bots one. Ive got 5 wrappers all in just now so ill see what I like best.

Babyboysmummy started a thread a while back and she got loads of answers. Ill see if i can find it.

I got my terrys from Mothercare 6 years ago (and never used them) and teh rest I bought off ebay. They are all second hand but never actually worn.

The motherease wrappers are good to go over terries as well as motherease nappies.

this site is meant to be great. i didnt actually buy anything from it as I felt ebay were cheaper.

Im sure someone will give you better advice. Maybe someone who already uses them. I may not like the ones ive got so we'll wait and see.

Morning all, couldn't sleep so am up doing more research!

Thanks so much Nic, it's all very interesting and such new territory but I am glad I'm at least becoming vaguely aware of the options :p I like the idea of the Nappy lady premium washable wipes:
    http://www.thenappylady.co.uk/public/productdetails.aspx?id=8&cat=5#options
They are £22 so I need to compare this against the Cheeky Monkey ones at £35 but that have the container, mesh bags etc - I like the idea of the washables though as they seem to give a thorough clean. Will only use them around a month or so after bubs is here, we can use flushable ones until then as no doubt things will be manic.

Digital good luck that place sounds good for you both, I hope the other 2 couples have a case of amnesia and forget all about it or decide it's too far for them! :T

Princess Coupon I don't *think* pigpen is expecting but she does know loads about the sort of questions we have and has a wealth of advice to offer, although she may come and correct me and say she is expecting after all!

MadnessandMayhem - I am in the same boat, we have a Mamas & Papas pram we got from Freecycle, forget the name of it right now, but I am so tempted to get a new one, as this one needs a replacement hood and seems more suitable from around 2-3 onwards, the ones I see people using in town have the baby area higher up. I need it to be ok for a small boot, not heavy, and also easily foldable for the bus, so maybe the Sola could be the one but only from 6 months onwards according to the Q&A... Plus the Sola is 10kg, whereas I was hoping for around 7-8... so many things to consider eh!
