If LO thrashe about a lot in bed you may find a single is better than a cotbed as a bed anyway as they are not wide for sideways sleepers so they do fall out which is rare with a single bed... plus single beds are eaier to buy duvets and bedding for.

I got the cotbed purely because I wasn't paying so got the one which matches the bedding.. MIL bought it.. she offered to buy the pushchair but I already had that by then so she got the cot instead.

Thanks, if LO is anything like me (i used to do 180 turns in my sleep) then a wide bed will be good lol.

Will chat to OH later and see how the land lies, i think that he is trusting me to know a lot of these things when its both of our first child so im sure i will be asking a lot more silly questions for the next 18 or so years :)

Glad the midwife went well Madbird, we only have 1 midwife for our drs so i will only see her all the way through which is fine by me becuase she is lovely :)

Although, for my next stupid question - does the midwife that you see at the drs come to the birth or is she a before and after person and the hospital midwives are the ones that deliver the baby etc?

The hospital ones deliver the baby but each area usually has a number of midwives who do postnatal visits so it is likely you will have a different one or several after the birth depending on where you live.

in my area there are 4 (2 called Wendy!) who you see on rotation before and after birth.. you get who you get in the hospital.. if you have a homebirth it is one that works your area you get usually.

    **rant alert**

Arrrrghhh I am so p£ssed off!

Went to view a house this evening that would have been £60 a month cheaper than where we are now, plus bike-able distance from OH's work.
Drove through the village and noticed a shop and post office - excellent - and a primary school - fantastic. Was starting to get excited. See the house, the garden is 10x better than on the photos. Knock on the door, the tenant says "I have some bad news for you I'm afraid". The stupid bl%dy landlord has only gone and decided to let it to a farm hand!!! Apparently the letting agents had been trying to ring me, but no missed calls or message on my mobile. Certainly nothing before I left the house. When we got home we found they had left a message - 20 minutes after I left the house to drive to the viewing!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: This damned letting agents are reknowned for being !!!!!!, so it would have to be a fantastic house to get us to deal with them again. I am FUMING  The house would have been ideal as well. And it had a pond, which we've always wanted. AAAAAARGH  Bl%dy letting agents messing around with people's lives. OH luckily only had to leave work half hour early, but for all they knew we could have driven from 2 hours away and had full days off work! Just isn't good enough. I would ring them and eff and blind, but luck would be an ideal place would come up with them. So we are going to leave it. Luckily we didn't have too far to go.

So, the search continues, and we have nothing lined up for tomorrow as nothing on Right Move.

And my day had been going so well too.... :(:(:(

Can i ask what is probably a stupid question - when baby outgrows a cot can you put them into a single bed?

OH and i have been looking at cotbeds under the impression that they would last a lot longer, but now im not so sure.

Also, how old does a baby need to be to outgrow a cot?

We didn't bother with a cotbed it was straight from cot to bed for our DD. My thinking was that she would eventually need a single bed anyway so it means having to buy an extra bed for the sake of a couple of years.

We put DD into her bed at 15 months but that is probably quite early, she was in waist to ankle plaster on both legs at the time and the cot was just a wee bit tightish for her legs (as they were plastered at an angle).

Aw digital that is crap!! I would be absolutely furious too. Your right letting agents really don't give a toss about tenants, it's just a business to them and with so many people needing houses, they don't have to work for the business! :(

Is there anything else out there? Have you asked them to let you know as soon as something comes up, then again if there are so many people going for the same house they may not even bother with that. ((hugs)) hope something comes up soon xxx
