I found it all sooo stressful last pregnancy, fortunately I went back to work for them until I got a new job, and now I work for nice people:j:j:j
I want caramac and crisps *stamps foot* live in the back of beyond and can't be arsed to get the car out, though!

My sickness policy says the following (although it is dated 2008, so not sure if the ECJ ruling came after that and therefore overrides it)
[FONT="]If an individual has been on long term sick leave for a complete leave year, they will lose their untaken annual leave at the end of the leave year.
However, if an individual has been or is on long term sick (with other periods of working during the year) they are entitled to have the proportion of the 4 weeks’ statutory leave (ie: 28 days less 8 public holidays which are treated as in paragraph 11 above) covered by their period of sickness absence (or pro rata depending on their contract or the proportion of the year worked) paid leave in that leave year (of which 5 can be carried forward). An assessment of the leave taken and remaining for such individuals will be made by the Personnel Department at the end of the leave year. The balance of untaken leave will otherwise be lost.
The limit on the amount of annual leave to be carried forward into the next leave year (up to 5 days) remains unchanged by this provision.

Do you get good sick pay mrsspendalot? I'd base my decision on that. I'm no expert but think I might take annual leave from 33-35 (did you say you had 3 weeks?) then start mat leave at 36 weeks. That way, annual leave is all taken (and on full pay) before they can force mat leave to start. It's really complicated isn't it?0

I get 2 months full (of which I am into 2nd month already) and 2 months at half pay+SSP, then would drop to SSP only.
It is complicated, and that is what I wanted to do, but someone on the employment board where I posted earlier said that they were aware of someone in same position as me who was not allowed to go straight from sick leave to annual leave and then onto maternity leave without returning to work in between the sick and annual leave periods. I guess it depends whether you have to be classed as fit to return to work in order to take up annual leave, and I won't be fit to work then!Olympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015

I *think* the ECJ ruling will override this, but having been a union rep for about 5 min ten years ago...I am not exactly qualified to interpret.
Unison rep should be all over it, though. Direct gov will give info on basic employment law applying to everyone, and your terms and conditions should not be less beneficial than these...though they may well be better. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
