I have started to use the cashline outside because I dread going in. I downgraded to the free account from a Royalties acc. When you go to a review that's the first thing they say - would I not like to upgrade to a Royalties . Godsake why cant they see in front of them in my file that I had one and got rid ?

Our local RBS is becoming a real pain in the neck, pestering us to go in.

Couldn't you ask your account to be moved to a branch far away, and then say you won't be able to make it there this time? :p

Though moving between branches, however automatic, would mean your account number/sort code needs to be changed.
    Enjoy the silence...

Going into a branch which is not your "home" branch doesn't stop the attempt to get you to see one of the advisers at the branch which you are then visiting.

That is certainly the case with LTSB and I expect is the same with RBS and all the other banks with branches - they can access your records so why not offer a review (= try to sell to you)?

this is truly a non-issue... tell the cashier that you don't need or want a review and hence, can they please just click it off on the computer.

Once you've done that, phone up RBS banking services and tell them to disable your account from receiving in-branch marketing (and whatever else you may find intolerable).

This "review" crud is nothing important and your view of it appears to indicate that you think it's all rather serious... it's not, just do the above and be free of the emotional stress it's obviously caused you.

Ok many thanks everybody - it was getting to me yes. They're very pushy and won't take no for an answer and I wanted to check the position before I told them (politely) what I thought of their reviews :D
Been with them for about 700 years and wouldnt know how to open a new acc , plus nobody would want us because we poor pensioners :rotfl:

i bank with RBS, just reply "no thank you, my partner is a financial advisor and deals with all that stuff" and they seem to leave you alone after that

Tried that kaya, she is SO pushy - wont let you go until you arrange an interview and meanwhile the queue behind you gets longer & longer. Is embarrassing and that poor man with the wife in a wheelchair was really skewered . Think they trained under the KGB. But now I know its not mandatory I'm fine and will be ready for her !

You don't need excuses. And don't get into a debate about it.

I just say, "No, thank you [quite politely], goodbye".
  • She sounds as though she is going too far if you are literally trapped there with a queue building up.

    Say no thank you, once.
If she keeps asking, say 'I've just said no, please can we get on with my transaction/please may I have my stuff back'.
If she asks again, loudly ask to speak to the manager to make a complaint about her heavy handed sales tactics and the fact that she's wasting your time and making everyone else wait longer.

She'll let you go and I bet she'll never ask you again.
